Here's what the new Ministry Munchies & The Daily Prophet Stands gift with purchase set looks like inside of the Collector's Edition Ministry of Magic. I really thought it would be a smoother fit, especially since the Ministry's fountain is design to be easily removed - only attached by four studs. However, the GWP cannot fit in its space.
In the GWP, the statue honestly becomes the most interesting and useful figure. Fudge's is not a convincing likeness in my opinion. This might have been a great time to include Scrimgeour for the first time, though I suppose I'm glad LEGO didn't lean into the FOMO. The paper boy only features in the Order of the Phoenix for 2 seconds, but it's a good enough recreation.
The set's saving grace is that you don't need to purchase the ridiculously overpriced Ministry of Magic to obtain it, but at the same time, it doesn't offer a lot of value on its own.
Anyway, I'm rather happy to be done with this year's Back to Hogwarts releases. Atlantis video drops tomorrow morning :)
LEGO will be launching Restaurants of the World: Mexico as a gift with purchase starting on April 10th. The specifics are lacking, but I’d guess this will obtainable at the $180 spending threshold.
This is the second set in an ongoing series of gift with purchase restaurants, and I think both models have done a great job of balancing the fine line between making a GWP too desirable or not desirable enough. The set here is impressively dense with its 326 pieces, and it’s a genuinely enjoyable building experience that kept me occupied far longer than I would have expected for a set of its size. The colors are simply delightful, and there’s even some unexpected building techniques, like the chairs at the counter. Let me know if I’m mistaken, but I believe the cook’s apron torso print is new and exclusive to this set.
I’m excited to see where else our tour of the restaurant world will take us. These sets would seem to make a lovely little addition to a larger LEGO City, or even just a great parts pack. No matter how you slice it, I think it’s a nice reward for a big LEGO purchase, but not something you’ll have to go out of your way to obtain. Like I said - the exact balance I like to see with a LEGO gift with purchase!
