Iāll make a full video about the journey that got me here, but for now, Iām so excited to finally share that the news is out: TRUTHTELLER, my debut adult fantasy, will be published in March 2027 by Wayward TxF (PRH), as well as in Germany, Spain and Portugal! For a lot of you, this might seem like a strange announcement: what does writing a fantasy book have to do with productivity? Becoming a traditionally published fantasy author is something Iāve been working toward for as long as I can remember (the OGs will remember!), and getting here while also having a full-time job is definitely a productivity story.
So yes, this is still very much on brand š
More on the whole journey soon, and thank you for still being here! ā¤ļø
I've been focusing on staying digital this year, but for everyone who is a fan of a good, classic system, here's a video on how to setup and organize a binder properly:
Yesterday I deviated a bit from the usual schedule and published a video about 7 habits from highly successful students. If you missed the upload, you can watch the video here:
Next week we'll be kicking off 2020's back to school season with a video on how to take smart notes and *stay* organised for the next semester. Meanwhile, if you want to get a head start, you can watch this video on how to study for online classes:
"second brain" - "an external, centralized, digital repository for the things you learn and the resources from which they come" I loved reading about the second brain method by Tiago Forte. It's both an organisation system and a productivity masterpiece and incredibly simple and fun to work with! You can find more about it in last week's video: https://youtu.be/pBW-4w9zjC8
Just like many other creators, I will be muting my channel until the end of the week and change my regular uploading schedule in order to allow those who have been discriminated to raise their voices and help fight for their rights.
Behind the whole organization and productivity content on this channel, my goal has always been and shall always be promoting education and justĀ how fundamental it can be in making us people better humans.
Here is a great list of resources to check out if you want to help (donate or sign a petition): blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
And here is a great list of books by Black authors that you should start reading as soon as you can: www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/black-authors And I have a second message.
This is not the time for hypocrisy. This is not the time to make a quick dollar out of an important issue or try and gain a new following by publicly sympathizing with Black people and then forgetting everything you have been preaching about on Twitter as soon as the worst part of this specific crisis ends.
Dealing with fake people and fake behaviors on social media is part of the industry but that doesnāt mean one should associate themselves to an incredibly important cause when they lack the education, awareness and resources to do so, and instead use the latest headlines to get that āalgorithm boostā.
Itās better to stay silent and get informed on the subject than publicly and audibly pretending that you care, that you are aware of the inequality suffered throughout the world by any and all minorities, when you will be the first to spit out racial slurs or avoid sitting next to a Black person on the bus as soon as you forget this ātrendā.
If you have important resources you want to share, use the comment section below so we can all benefit from them.
Hello everyone! I hope you're staying healthy and cosy at home. I would like to make some videos addressing some difficulties, questions and problems you might be having while adapting to this different routine - problems about managing your time, work or classes, or how to handle chores while staying at home, etc. Give me some ideas for topics you'd like to see discussed so I can get right into creating some useful content for all of you. Love you all, and stay safe!
So hereās a quick update on life in general. As you can obviously see, thereās no video this weekend. Besides having felt a little down last week, which didnāt allow me to film properly, my life has been swept over by the coronavirus pandemic this week. The Portuguese government is closing everything down (schools, universities, beaches, museums, monuments, etc), and most people will be working from home until the peak subsides. The streets are empty, grocery deliveries have to be scheduled almost 3 weeks in advance (!) and, of course, we already have issues going to supermarkets. Meanwhile, my wedding, which would take place on April the 4th, will have to be postponed until Fall. This means that almost one year of planning went down the drain and Iāll have to redo everything all over again, since probably some of the vendors wonāt all be available for the same date. Iām here to tell you that even when all of your plans go awry, you need to take a deep breath. Itās going to be alright. Weāre all in the same boat and in this moment, postponing a wedding seems almost meaningless in comparison to whatās happening all over the world. What matters now is that everyone stays safe and protected and the rest of it ā weāll figure it out.
Meanwhile, Iāll be filming some videos that might be of use to some of you who are currently fighting the boredom at home, or working from home for the first time. Two of them will come out this week (Friday and Saturday) and there will be more to come.
Stay safe, and please focus on whatās currently important. Give yourself a break.
Hello everyone! Some of you might have heard of the new YouTube policies for 2020 (COPPA). No one really knows what this means for most channels (including education channels) and what the consequences will be.Ā Right now, some creators (myself included) are involved in creating a new platform focused on video content that is educational, ad-free and can be made without YouTube's restrictions and algorithm constraints. If you're interested, you can sign up via watchnebula.com/ or use your Curiosity Stream subscription to access the platform for free via curiositystream.com/studycorner. We'll see where 2020 will take us! Love, Mariana
