Welcome to Penny's Bunnies, Wildlife & Pets! 🐾
Hey there! I’m Penny, and if you’re an animal lover, you're in the right place.
What started as a way to share the lives of my rescue bunnies, has grown into a full-blown celebration of all things furry, feathered, and four-legged!
What You’ll Find Here:
The Rescue Bunnies: Heartwarming updates, community posts, videos and more!
The Wildlife Cam: Catching the secret lives of our local visitors—from garden birds and Hedgehogs, to squirrels and the occasional Ladybird 🐞 or Butterfly 🦋
Gizmo & George: The true stars of the show! My two Japanese Chins who prove that while they might be small, they have enough personality to fill the whole house (and garden!)
Whether we’re watching a wildlife rescue unfold or just hanging out with "the boys" in the garden, this channel is all about the joy (and the occasional chaos) that animals bring to our lives.

A total of 3 little Hoglets found this evening without Mum and too little to survive come winter, so all 3 have tonight gone into a rescue centre for Hedgehogs.
They'll be released when the time is ready and they're a healthy weight (above 600g)
Here's the first little one we found

Little Hoglet 'Leafion' named by my Son Jack after a Pokemon character, was found wondering around a pile of leaves on her own covered in Ticks, and way too little to be out alone without Mum 😔
We took her to a hedgehog rescue who discovered she had fleas, ticks, lung worm and fluke, and on top of that covered in cuts and slashes most likely from garden tools 😥
This little one is holding her own and so far she's responding to treatment and put weight on during her first night, though she has lost a little weight yesterday so she isn't out of the Woods yet.
If this little one continues to improve she will eventually be released into our garden joining a further 20 plus hogs that we are support feeding 🦔🦔🦔
Please wish little Leafion luck in her fight 🙏

UPDATE: The first hoglet we found over the weekend was a little girl who we named 'Evie'. Evie was too little to be out alone without Mum, so she was taken to a hedgehog rescue where she'll stay until she's at a decent weight and size to be able to regulate her own body temperature and ultimately hibernate over winter.
After Evie we found a further 5 Hoglets, some very unwell 😔
It seems the council gardeners have yet again disturbed nesting hedgehogs and one was seriously injured by gardening tools 😪
I'll update on the others once I know more.

Another Hedgehog release last night, little 'Comet' who was a tiny hoglet found by a member of the public wondering around a cricket field back in July, with no Mum or siblings in sight, and an injured leg 😢
We took the call and quickly went to pick him up and get him to a local hedgehog rescue, who discovered Comet also had a nasty scab on his face 😕
Two months of treatment and lots of T.L.C later and Comet has been released into our very hedgehog friendly garden, where he will be support fed but free to roam as much or as little as he wants.
Comet will be fed Amazon grain free Kitten Kibble which can be found here in our wildlife and pets wishlist for anyone wanting to support us to help the hogs 🐾🦔 www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2VQVLD6AIIPMX?ref_…
Please wish Comet a happy, healthy life 🦔✨️🙏

Found this little one tonight wondering around in the road, a small hoglet too small to regulate their own temperature and wouldn't last much longer on their own without Mum.
We rescued him and he'll be going to rescue in the morning 🌄🦔
Let's wish him well ✨️

✨️POSITIVE NEWS STORY✨️
Glowworms have been spotted glowing again at Nosterfield Nature Reserve in North Yorkshire, after disappearing from the area for around a century 🐛
The comeback is the result of a super cool conservation project. Hundreds of glowworm larvae were carefully raised before being released into restored habitat in 2024. Because glowworms take around two years to reach adulthood, conservationists had to wait patiently to see if the project had worked.
This summer, glowing females were finally spotted, a really encouraging sign that the reintroduction could be taking hold 🥹
And despite their name, glowworms aren’t actually worms, they’re beetles! The females produce their famous green glow to attract flying males, while the larvae spend much of their time hunting tiny snails and slugs 🐌
It’s still early days, and conservationists will need to see whether the glowworms can successfully reproduce and establish a self sustaining population
How cool is that?!
