A lot of people have asked why I call something a set instead of a play, so here’s the difference:

🏀 A set is the formation or alignment players start in on the court.

🏀 A play is the action that happens after they get into that formation.

For example, a team might line up in a Horns set (that’s the setup), then run screens, cuts, and passes to create a shot (that’s the play).

The easiest way to remember it:

✅ Set = where players start
✅ Play = what players do

So when I say a team is in a certain set, I’m talking about the formation. When I talk about a play, I’m talking about the action being run from that formation.
