@aesoprockwins and I met freshman year of college a lifetime ago and became fast friends. Literally...over 30 years ago.
One of my earliest memories of hanging with him was being at a party freestying (yes, I used to rap) , hearing him and being like "perhaps I need to reevaluate my career as a rapper:. Thank god I did lol
Even though i dropped out after my freshman year, we stayed in touch and spent summers in New York starting our journeys towards making music together. By the time he graduated and moved to NYC , he had already established himself as a special talent to a small group of people but the word really started to spread when he made "Appleseed" , which we both helped distribute online. He would go to kinkos and press up album covers, cut them himself and burn the cds. It was as homemade DIY as it got. While I only did one track on that ep , it led to making his official debut album on a label, "Float", which I did a bunch of tracks on and it pretty much kick started my career.
Whelp, 30 something years later , and literally dozens of albums later and the boys are still at it. On November 13th , our new album "Trouble Mountain" drops on @rhymesayers. We are both old, wizened vets now but I would argue we have never been better. Excited for you guys to check out the music. So don't sleep!
