In February 1921, Coast Guard officers boarded the Carroll A. Deering on Diamond Shoals.
They found sails set, food left warm on the galley stove, and six pairs of heavy boots lined up on deck. The 11-man crew was completely gone.
One of the biggest clues was six pairs of boots. Why would sailors intentionally take off their boots before leaving a ship?
The full documentary breakdown premieres in two days. Stay tuned to discover what federal investigators uncovered.

COMING SOON: A new video podcast about Boston’s impossible survival!
Did you know that one of America’s most beautiful cities is actually floating on a "hidden forest" of 100-year-old tree trunks? Or that it was once nearly erased by a 25-foot wall of boiling-hot industrial syrup?
In our upcoming episode on the Pickmash channel, we go forensic:
- The 1919 "Sweet Tsunami": Why a non-Newtonian wave of molasses moved faster than a human could run.
- The Invisible Decay: Why luxury homeowners in the Back Bay are literally "watering" their foundations to keep the city from sinking.
- Engineering Hubris vs. Nature: How the 1897 subway construction accidentally sabotaged the city’s foundations.
You’ve seen the photos, but you’ve never heard the science behind the chaos.
STAY TUNED and hit that SUBSCRIBE button so you don’t miss this deep dive into Boston’s subterranean secrets! 🔔
