Looking at this picture you'd never know the danger Paul Davies had put himself in, in order to capture a genuine moment of history.
And until now, no one has ever seen it.
The photo is a screengrab from footage captured in 1989. Paul, a now legendary former ITN war correspondent, is sat at the feet of gunmen trading shots during Europe’s bloodiest anti-communist uprising, the Romanian revolution.
Paul was the only reporter in the world on the scene in Bucharest, filing his reporting from a TV station that had become under siege at the heart of the revolution.
The footage of him in danger remained left on the cutting room floor.
But now, in 2026, he's seen it once again as he recalls the most dramatic of war stories in Reporting History. Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/Cbj4Vqs_Wf0

It was an image which captured the world's attention: Princess Diana walking through a live minefield in Angola in 1997.
The sight of a Princess wearing a flak jacket and helmet highlighted the lasting impact of war on civilians and the misery caused by landmines.
The trip was meant to mark the beginning of a new humanitarian phase of her life. Sadly, just seven months later, the world discovered the tragic news of her death in Paris.
ITV News' Steve Scott spent more time with Diana than any other journalist on the trip. He reveals what Diana said her priorities were at that time in her life - including her plans for William and Harry - and what she was really like off-camera. In July 2010, armed police swarmed the picturesque town of Rothbury in Northumberland as Britain's biggest-ever manhunt began.
Officers were searching for Raoul Moat, a former bouncer who went on a deadly shotgun rampage days after being released from prison. And they feared he would kill again.
But they all missed the moment he walked straight through the town one night - and in the direction of our correspondent Emma Murphy.
Emma describes what happened next - and how her team filmed Moat's final stand-off with police - in the latest episode of Reporting History: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCigr...

🛍️Whether you're ordering food, shopping online or booking a holiday - reviews have a massive impact on where we decide to spend our money.
🔎Today, the UK's competition watchdog said it's investigating five firms, including food delivery giant Just Eat and motoring site Autotrader, over allegations of fake and misleading online reviews.
It's also investigating Dignity, Pasta Evangelists and Feefo. All five companies have said that they are cooperating with the CMAs ongoing investigations.
🤔So how can you spot them? Earlier this year, we carried out an investigation into the issue - watch it here👇

This is Terri. In 1973, she fled Dublin to start a new life in London.
Instead, she was 'abducted by a priest' and forced to live in a mother and baby institution. Her son was taken from her aged five-weeks-old and put up for adoption against her wishes.
Thousands of women across the UK and Ireland went through a similar experience - pressured and coerced to put their babies up for adoption between the 1940s and 1980s.
Today a cross-party committee of MPs have demanded the British government make a formal, unqualified apology to survivors.
Watch our investigation to find out more. 👇

Picture this: You're sat down in a palace. You're not entirely sure where you are. You are there to do an hour-long interview with one of the world's most feared dictators. He has just shocked the world by invading a neighbouring country.
What's the first question you would ask?
In the first episode of our new series Reporting History, Sir Trevor McDonald tells the extraordinary story of how he came face-to-face with Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein - and reveals why he 'cringes' when he listens back to his opening question.
It's the first time Sir Trevor has rewatched the interview. He breaks down how he secured it, what he made of Saddam's 'surprising' responses - and what he thinks now about the Iraq War that unfolded years later.
Give it a watch - and be sure to leave your reaction in the comments, and any suggestions for future topics to cover on Reporting History. 👇
