The image of those glowing eyes in the dark forest doesn't represent an external monster; it represents the parts of ourselves we refuse to look at.

Jungian psychology and Hermetic wisdom teach us that we all possess a "shadow"—our repressed instincts, anger, unacceptable desires, and flaws. When we refuse to integrate this shadow, trying to be only "good" and ignoring our own capacity for darkness, we become completely vulnerable.

A man who does not know his own darkness is easily manipulated by the darkness of others. Worse yet: he ends up sabotaging his own life and blaming the external world, assuming the eternal role of the victim. Integrating the shadow is not about becoming evil; it is about becoming whole and taking ownership of yourself.
