20 months ago, I quit my career in media publishing and moved to Bulgaria to build a slower, healthier and more sustainable life.

It hasn't gone exactly as planned.

I've lived very frugally, relied on house and pet sitting to avoid rent, struggled to make money from my YouTube channel and built several small ventures from scratch. But in exchange, I finally had the freedom and time I'd wanted for years.

Now I'm 41, living alone in the Balkan mountains, and things are changing again. I'm finally earning some money through my mentoring and creative work, but I'm also spending more time behind a laptop than I ever intended to.

So I'm figuring out how to make a living without losing the life I created in the first place...
