What's the most impactful experience you've ever had in a classroom?
For English and African American studies professor Irvin Hunt, it's when one of his students asked him: “Well, how do you find love, and where do you go to find it?”
The class was reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, a book Hunt describes as "about this character who is coming into herself, and, on the way, she has a lot of love relationships."
His student's question, Hunt says, "brought together what I think the best thing literature offers us, which is equipment for living—the things we need to live better lives”
