As geopolitical uncertainties reshape global energy priorities, India's transition to renewable energy is becoming increasingly important to strengthening long-term energy security.

At the CII Energizing South Summit 2026, 6th Edition, Mr. Mahesh Paranjpe, Chief - BD, EPC, Planning & Engineering, Tata Power Renewables, shared perspectives on building a more resilient and self-reliant energy ecosystem through renewable energy, storage, grid modernisation and diversified domestic energy sources. He was joined by fellow panellists Dr. G. Sambasiva Rao, Vice Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh & Managing Director, Sravan Shipping Services Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. V B Rao, Advisor, Suzlon Energy Ltd.; Mr. Rambabu Paravastu, Chief Sustainability Officer, Greenko Group; Sri Prudhvitej Immadi, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APEPDCL); and Mr. Nilesh Agrawal, Vice Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam & Director, Maa Mahamaya Industries Limited.

With 295.55 GW of installed renewable capacity, including 168.04 GW of solar, India has built a strong foundation for this transition. The next step lies in integrating these resources through energy storage, hybrid renewable projects and grid modernisation to make clean power more reliable and flexible.

Tata Power Renewables is contributing to this progress with approximately 7.2 GW of operational renewable capacity and a 5.1 GW project pipeline. Through solutions such as Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), floating solar and distributed rooftop solar, alongside battery storage integration, TPREL is helping address the evolving need for dependable clean power. Its rooftop solar and EV charging infrastructure further support energy resilience and reduced dependence on conventional energy sources.

The next phase of India's energy transition will be about moving beyond capacity addition to building an integrated energy ecosystem that delivers reliable, affordable and secure power at scale.

The Human Edge of High Performance | World Mental Health Day 2026

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2026, Tata Power Renewables hosted a thought-provoking fireside chat on “The Human Edge of High Performance” exploring how we can build resilience, nurture wellbeing and achieve sustainable success without compromising our mental health.

The session was held as part of our holistic wellbeing framework, ‘A Fuller Life’, our commitment to creating a culture where people feel supported, empowered and equipped to thrive, both personally and professionally.

Moderated by Ms. Anupama Ratta, Chief – Human Resources & ES&A, TPREL & DEI, Tata Power, the conversation brought together two distinguished voices:

Ms. Anisha Padukone, CEO, The Live Love Laugh Foundation and
Prof. Asha Banu Soletti, Professor at Centre for Health and Mental Health, School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai discussed on the conventional notions of high performance, highlighting that success is not about constantly pushing harder, but about sustaining our energy, recognising our needs and creating environments where people can thrive.

Key reflections from the conversation:

- Resilience is preparation, not just bouncing back. Anticipating high-pressure periods, taking breaks and seeking support can help us navigate stress more effectively.
- Wellbeing is a shared responsibility. Individual self-care matters, but so do workplace cultures, inclusive policies and systems that address the root causes of stress.
- Asking for help is a strength. Creating safe spaces for honest conversations helps break stigma and reminds us that no one has to navigate challenges alone.
- One size does not fit all. Different people, generations and working styles need different forms of support and flexibility.
- Care is a leadership behaviour. A simple “How are you?” followed by genuine listening can make a meaningful difference.

The conversation reinforced an important truth: high performance is not a sprint; it is a marathon. Sustainable success comes when people feel supported, included and empowered to bring their best selves to work.

Through A Fuller Life, we continue to strengthen our commitment to holistic wellbeing, recognising that mental health is integral to how we live, work, connect and perform.

Because at Tata Power Renewable Energy, we believe that a healthier mind, a supportive workplace and a culture of care are essential to building a fuller life and a brighter, more sustainable future.

Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming increasingly important in making renewable power more flexible, reliable and dispatchable.

At the Battery Energy Storage Systems for Utilities panel discussion, Mr. Viddyesh Raje shared a developer and EPC perspective on project execution, emerging BESS opportunities and the expanding role of storage across transmission and distribution.|

For an integrated power and energy utility like Tata Power, BESS is a strategic segment. With our experience in developing, executing and operating BESS systems, Tata Power is uniquely positioned to build on this foundation and grow responsibly in the segment.

The discussion highlighted the importance of application-led BESS solutions designed around specific grid needs, including renewable firming, peak-load management, energy shifting and grid balancing.

As deployment scales, such solutions will be critical to building a more resilient and efficient energy system.

Some journeys leave behind more than footprints. They leave ideas that continue to shape the way we move forward. Gandhiji’s Dandi March showed us the power of using nature’s resources with purpose. Today, the same sun that helped make salt can help power a cleaner tomorrow.
Happy Gandhi Jayanti.
