The Tears of the Prophet (PBUH): The Soil of Karbala 💔

Long before the tragedy of Karbala unfolded on the 10th of Muharram, its sorrow was already known in the heavens.

It is narrated that Angel Jibril (Gabriel) visited Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and brought him a small handful of red sand from a distant land. Jibril informed the Prophet (PBUH) that this was the very earth upon which his beloved grandson, Imam Hussein (AS), would one day be martyred.

Holding the sand in his hands, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) wept deeply out of love and sorrow for what was to come. He handed the soil to his wife, Umm Salama (RA), telling her to keep it safe, whispering that when this dry sand turned into fresh blood, she would know that Hussein had been slain.

Years later, on the Day of Ashura, she looked at the jar, and the miracle came to pass—the sand had turned to blood. This hadith is narrated in Musnad Ahmad, Al-Mustadrak al-Hakim, and Sunan al-Tirmidhi.

We pray for immense blessings, peace, and infinite mercy upon Imam Hussein (RA), who stood tall, unyielding, and steadfast, knowing the entire world was against him. He chose the path of ultimate truth over submission to tyranny and died as a noble martyr. May Allah grant the highest stations in Jannah to him, to the blessed Shuhada (martyrs) of Karbala, and to every single soul who has laid down their life on Allah's path. Ameen

This Ashura, as we remember the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussein (AS) for justice, truth, and Islam, let us reflect on how deeply this tragedy weighed on the heart of the Prophet (PBUH) himself.

May Allah protect us from fitna and tyranny, rectify our affairs and forgive us for our shortcomings.

"May Allah forgive me for any errors I may have made while compiling or creating these Islamic reminders, and accept my efforts in guiding myself and others toward the path of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Ameen."
