I went to Miami to meet the OG Cubans who fled a socialist dictatorship in the 1960s and 70s.. Even though these people had everything stolen from them, the ended up prospering in the United States and truly achieving the American dream. Don't miss the new video! I had NO IDEA Miami was like this.. What a breath of fresh air to be back in the Unites States. Traveling abroad and living abroad has helped me come full circle and realize just how lucky we are to live in the U.S.. Plus, the Cuban immigrants have helped revive that perspective in me. They are some of the most hard working, grateful, and prosperous people in our country. I'm not talking about millionaires, I'm talking about ordinary people from all walks of life who take what life gives to them and goes with it.

Hello all I want to do a livestream to follow up my Cuba series (I know it’s a little late, but I’ve been SWAMPED with what’s going on in Ceuta , Spain). So many people have asked me questions on the specifics of Cuba through email or instagram and if I don’t answer, I apologize but it’s just been too much...
Some questions have been:
How did I travel there as an American? How can you help Cubans? How did I manage to traverse the island during a terrible fuel crisis? Why didn’t I go to x location? Spain is currently experiencing a large-scale surge of migrants (AN INVASION) crossing into Ceuta, one of Spain's two autonomous cities on the African continent. Moroccan news outlets are reporting that **tens of thousands** of people are attempting to cross into the city.

Call it what you want, but in my opinion, this isn't controlled immigration. It's a border crisis on a scale that Spain has never seen in Ceuta.

Ceuta has been under Spanish sovereignty for over 500 years and has a population of only 80,000 people.

I believe Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's government has failed to adequately protect Spain's border and sovereignty.

Since my channel started in Spain and I've made hundreds of videos here, I feel it's important to show you what's happening.

Among Ceuta's 80,000 residents, roughly half are Muslim and half are Christian, along with small Hindu and Jewish communities. These communities have coexisted peacefully for many years. The Muslims of Ceuta are fully Spanish—they speak with an Andalusian accent, and many serve in Spain's military, police, and public institutions.

What's happening now, however, is something entirely different. Large groups of migrants are arriving together, overwhelming the city's capacity and placing enormous pressure on local authorities. Many of them have little knowledge of Spain beyond the hope that life will be better there.

Ceuta simply doesn't have the space or resources to accommodate such a large influx, and much of the cost ultimately falls on Spanish and European taxpayers.

I've made several videos in both Ceuta and Melilla—the other Spanish autonomous city in North Africa—which are often described as Europe's most heavily fortified land borders. Recent events have raised serious questions about how effective those borders are in practice.

I know most of you subscribed to this channel for Cuba and Latin America content, but I believe this is an important story that deserves attention.

If you haven’t seen my most recent video, I somehow managed to travel ALL the way to Baracoa, Cuba, during the worst fuel crisis in recent history. One of the reasons I wanted to go there was because I had been searching in YouTube for years about videos of Cuba’s far east and I couldn’t find any videos in English, so I just decided to try to find a way to do it myself. What I found there was truly astonishing. It felt more like Costa Rica than Cuba yet like many places in Cuba, it was totally frozen in the past. I managed to hike several miles to see how Cubans are living in the most rural of areas - Cubans who participated in the revolution and Cubans who nearly lost their lives in Angola. I highly suggest you watch the video to learn about this important history before it’s gone.

The short answer is I’m not - one, because it would be impossible because of the internet problems and two, because that would be completely foolish for my safety.. Today us U.S. Americans celebrate our 250th anniversary as a country. Thanks to the brave Spanish general
Bernardo de Gálvez in his strategic and valiant efforts during the campaigns in the southeast of United States, we were able to defeat the British one of the greatest empires man has ever seen was born. Today I’m celebrating in Macharaviaya Malaga, Bernardo de Galvez’s birthplace. Bernardo de Gálvez played a genuinely important role in the American Revolutionary War. As governor of Spanish Louisiana, he captured British positions at Baton Rouge, Mobile, and Pensacola (1781), tying down British forces and helping secure the Gulf Coast. Spain also provided the American cause with money, supplies, and military pressure against Britain, even though Spain was not formally allied with the United States. Many historians consider Spain’s contribution an important factor in the British defeat.

Unfortunately, Manifest Destiny reinforced an Anglo-American story. During the 19th century, as the U.S. expanded westward into territories that had belonged to Spain and later Mexico, national narratives increasingly celebrated American self-reliance and exceptionalism. That made it less likely that Spanish contributions would be highlighted.
* Later conflicts with Spain—especially the Spanish-American War of 1898—also made Spain a less celebrated part of the American founding story. But we must remember that the better the Spanish speaking world and English speaking world understand each other, the stronger we are. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD SPAIN! Fun fact, Galveston Texas was named after the general and Gálvez became an honorary U.S. citizen in 2014.
