Hard Target - Invidious

I am a stubborn old man. We have normalized music being great temporarily. Used to be you found a great song that you loved and it stayed with your forever.

With short form content, TikTok trends, reels etc, I come across so much great music, I love it, but my attention span doesn’t love it enough to go hunt down the artist‘s Spotify and save the song.

I know I should be making all this type of content to promote my music and I just don’t. It’s the ONLY legitimate way to reach a new audience now.

Man even five years ago you came across a good song it stayed with you. Now everything feels like “this is cool for this week” until the new trend is updated in my brains OS, and I find the new one.

I am stubborn, old man, I love making music and just wanna put it out for people to listen to it, I’m gonna have to find a happy middle ground, just not about to do a stupid dance to trick you into liking it……

Hard Target

Making music has been my job for the past 20 years. It’s not like a normal job where you just clock in and finish the task set before you. To make music, GOOD music you’ve got to want to make it, you’ve got to get excited about it. Your head’s gotta be in the right space.

Whether or not I’m in that headspace, I forced myself to go in my studio every day. If I’m not writing and recording, I work on production. If I’m writing and recording something and I know I don’t like it, I still try to finish it, same thing with beats. Reason because somewhere down the road this may end up being a song I love or beat, example “Blessings” before I release this song, It sat on my computer for about two years, I came across it and played it and was like “WTF why haven’t I dropped this”

I think my main reason writing this is to say…. I love making music, the fact that this is my job I give thanks to the Lord every day….. but this is a job, it’s work, so no excuses, no days off, clock your ass
