I lost my Vallyamma on the 30th of May.

The grief is beyond what words can express. I have so many memories with her, memories that span my entire life. She was there through every stage of it, from the day I was born until now. A part of her will always live within me.

When Vallyamma was diagnosed with stomach cancer in June 2022, I was completely shattered. I could not believe it. Around the same time, my Amma was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even today, I do not know how life brought us to that point, but I watched both my mothers go through one of the toughest battles imaginable. Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgeries, hospital visits, endless waiting, endless hope. We went through it all. My Amma is still fighting her battle. My Vallyamma fought hers for four long years with a strength that I will always admire.

The last month was especially difficult. The last week was heartbreaking. Watching someone you love suffer so much is a pain I cannot put into words. Her pain had become unbearable, and every day I prayed for her to find peace. And now, she finally has.

I truly believe she is somewhere better, free from pain and suffering. When I think of her now, I do not want to remember the illness. I want to remember her smile, her love, her presence, and the countless moments we shared together. But even with that comfort, the loss feels impossible to bear right now. The silence she leaves behind is heavy. I miss her more than words can say.

I hope time teaches me how to live with this grief. I hope it softens the pain while keeping the memories alive. And I hope that wherever she is, she knows how deeply she was loved and how deeply she will always be missed.

Rest peacefully, Vallyamma. Thank you for being such a beautiful part of my life.
