My headcanon - Theater is connected to Sinclair's lore AND might be a hint to upcoming in-game event in the future. The event might be playable mode or mini game during normal match in the Theater for Sinclair's remodel/ lore update.

There is at least few lore friendly ways how to connect this event - it can be a summoning, prop collecting, haunts fighting activity.
Dota 2 had similar event it was called Wraith-Night, a PVE game mode. In that event you were fighting NPCs to later at the end of the game face Wraith King (rebranded Skeleton King from Dota 1, Blizzard didn't like Dota 2 having Skeleton King at that time). Basically whole event was a rebranding of Skeleton King to Wraith King, in other words remodel and lore update.

This event sounds a bit ambitious for a simple remodel/ hero update I agree with you here.
The bare minimum what I expect is a connection Sinclair to this Theater. The poster indicates either Henry and Savannah were performing here or an incident of them trapped in the body happened here there.

Solomon's ultimate ability - you challenge enemy player to play a Hyperbullet chess game in abstract place off the map similar to Doorman's Baroness Hotel.

Loser dies on instant.
