A first for O’Fun Park: four mechanical rides will open in spring 2027

featuring a series of rotations, tilts and swinging movements for a dynamic experience that the whole family can enjoy together.
“The magic of every ride is that, through theming, it can adapt perfectly to its destination and become part of the park’s identity Design ,” said Enrico Patechi, Creative Manager at Zamperla.

O’Fun Park is also preparing for its next phase of development with the construction of a station to accommodate a miniature railway, which is due to enter service in 2028. That same year, new attractions are also expected to be added to the park’s offering.
“We are very proud to be partnering with O’Fun Park as it enters this exciting new chapter. The park has a clear identity and an ambitious vision, and we are delighted to contribute to its development with attractions designed to offer memorable experiences for the whole family. The 2026 Golden Ticket Awards honor 28 amusement industry winners
Presented live from brand-new park COTALand
AUSTIN, Texas — Established in 1998 by Amusement Today, the Golden Ticket Awards have spotlighted achievements and accomplishments within the field of amusements and attractions. Celebrating the “Best of the Best,” the awards are among the most-recognized within the industry of theme parks, amusement parks, family entertainment centers, water parks and other attractions. On September 12, 2026, Amusement Today presented awards in 22 categories determined by results from an international poll consisting of more than 500 ballots sent to knowledgeable people within the industry. In addition, special Publisher’s Picks and Legend designations determined by the staff recognized specific accomplishments.
On September 12, more than 250 industry professionals gathered at host park COTALand on the campus of Circuit of the Americas for the ceremony. The brand-new theme park was just two weeks from its grand opening, so attendees got a sneak preview of what the beautiful new park will be like when it opens its gates in the days ahead.
“Being from Texas, it was especially nice to welcome the world to the Lone Star State,” said Amusement Today Publisher Gary Slade. COTALand was such a new experience. No one knew what to expect. I think the race car fans among us were particularly excited. The host hotel was the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, so attendees got to experience two impressive Texas facilities.”
Dubbed by AT as the Networking Event of the Year, winners and companies from around the world came to connect, as well as accept awards.
“Opportunities such as this are so rare,” said Golden Ticket Awards Communications
Coordinator Tim Baldwin. “Everyone is so busy operating their own parks and companies that it is challenging to find occasions to get together to socialize and collaborate. Our attendees find that time invaluable. It’s such a positive weekend, and I think people need that.”
Collecting the most awards of the night was Dollywood. A finalist in numerous categories, it took home four Golden Tickets: Best Guest Experience, Best Kid’s Area, Best Family Coaster and — a return snag by a slight margin — Most Beautiful Park. These accomplishments are testament to the dedication and the positive momentum of the Tennessee theme park.
Best Park went to Europa-Park in Germany. It was the eleventh time for Germany’s most- attended theme park to take the top prize.
A surprise came when a new winner took Best Water Park for the first time. Splashin’ Safari, the water park at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana, had always been a top finalist and finally took home the gold. Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari accepted two other awards: Best Water Park Ride (Mammoth) and Best Wooden Roller Coaster. The Voyage had won Best Wooden Coaster five times in the past but hadn’t in more than a decade. The park credits this to the extensive refurbishment work on the amazing woodie that travels for more than a mile.
Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia was a finalist in multiple categories. Its Falcons Flight roller coaster took home two Golden Tickets for Best New Attraction Installation and Best New Roller Coaster. Falcons Flight opened New Year’s Eve and set records for longest, tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world.
Another international winner was Phantasialand’s Chiapas for Best Water Ride. This German park features immersive, imaginative worlds, and the multi-level log flume is a true centerpiece.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas scored Best New Show. Its “Monster Mash Bash” is reinvented every fall and the 2025 edition rocked audiences to a clear victory.
The second year for Show Person of the Year — an award that recognizes people in the carnival industry — went to Sandy Schmidt of T.J. Schmidt & Company, whose life in the mobile industry is filled with countess tales and experiences.
A new winner for Best Family Park was Santa’s Village in New Hampshire. The Christmas-themed park brings “pure joy” from spring to the end of the year each season. The park was delighted to see its efforts in bringing happiness recognized.
Best Dark Ride went to Universal Epic Universe for Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. Just opened last year, fans have recognized the deliciously dark attraction as a mind-blowing attraction.
For the tenth time, Fury 325 at Carowinds took Best Steel Roller Coaster. As its name implies, it stands 325 feet tall and delivers sheer speed and adrenaline, as well as straddling over two states — North and South Carolina.
New attractions for 2026 taking Golden Tickets were Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare at Kings Island for Best New Family Attraction, Best New Theme Concept went to Legoland’s Galacticoaster, and Best New Water Park Attraction went to Aquaticar at Aquarabia in Saudi Arabia. The latter is the first ride of its kind to allow guests to drive underwater.
Another first of its kind took Best Innovation. WingZ from manufacturer Zamperla is a new ride that allows guests to make their chair rise into the air by flapping their arms. The first installation went to Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, who accepted the award on behalf of the Italian ride manufacturer.
Standout Family Entertainment Center was won by Level99 in Orlando, Florida. This new-concept, game-driven interactive experience for friends and families has taken off in the village of Disney Springs. At its debut, it was so popular, it had to extend its hours.
An award voted for by people working in the industry is the Leadership Award. Franceen Gonzales of Enchanted Parks was recognized for her achievements in developing brands and promoting and establishing safety standards. Her life’s work is well-known throughout the amusement industry.
Amusement Today recognizes various aspects within the business of attractions with its Publisher’s Picks. Austin’s own Matt Hughey took Person of the Year for his dedication and perseverance from getting COTALand from square one to the world’s newest theme park.
Honored as Supplier of the Year, Vekoma Rides, the maker of COTALand’s Circuit Breaker roller coaster, celebrates 100 years in business and has become a driving force in the production of crowd-pleasing new rides.
Also celebrating a century milestone, Knoebels Amusement Resort has rallied around its 100th anniversary. Recognized as Park of the Year, numerous members of the family were in attendance to accept the prestigious award. Knoebels is beloved by the most experienced world travelers who enjoy amusement parks globally.
The Publisher’s Pick Turnstile Award acknowledges parks who have made improvements and upgrades that encourage guests to return time and time again. Kentucky Kingdom, now under Herschend Family Entertainment, in the past years has introduced festivals, themed areas and new family-friendly offerings to enhance the park experience; it was recognized with the award.
Two industry figures were presented with the Legend Awards. Kalahari Resorts founder Todd Nelson was championed for creating a world-recognized hospitality brand, and more importantly for his charitable contributions that have provided fresh water to one million people in Africa. In addition, the purchase of authentic artwork from artisans of the continent supports their culture and welfare.
Len Soled of Rides 4 U is known as an industry dynamo by representing various international clients in the U.S. His work in both the carnival market and with amusement parks keeps him busy. He also supports parks by working with used ride sales. Rides 4 U was instrumental in providing ride packages for both COTALand and Kalahari.
“The ceremony brought a lot of cheers and applause,” said Baldwin. “But connecting — whether it be through discussions, handshakes or hugs — makes it an annual event worth attending.”
“Texas did us proud,” added Slade. “It was hot, but everyone had a cool time getting together.”
Amusement Today began publication in 1997, and the award-winning magazine is now a leader in the amusement industry. The Golden Ticket Awards were established in 1998 and are the direct result of votes cast from around the globe. More than 500 ballots were distributed among experienced travelers, divided equally among the nation as well as internationally, along with industry journalists and ride suppliers. The latter two groups have categories devoted to professional topics. A free downloadable issue containing the charts and full lists of finalists can be found at GoldenTicketAwards.com.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces Thrill Glider,
the World's First Thrillglider Roller Coaster, Opening in 2027
Thrill Glider Will Set Multiple World Records and
Deliver an Unprecedented Flying Motorbike Experience
VALENCIA, Calif., – Sept. 10, 2026 – Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Thrill Capital of the World and one of Southern California's premier theme parks, today announced that Thrill Glider, a first-of-its-kind roller coaster, will debut in 2027. Created exclusively for Magic Mountain, the attraction combines flying, motorbike and suspended coaster technologies to establish an entirely new roller coaster category: the Thrillglider. It will combine the freedom of flight with the intensity of a multi-launch thrill coaster, delivering an experience unlike anything guests have ever ridden.
Developed by world-renowned coaster manufacturer Vekoma for Six Flags Magic Mountain, Thrill Glider riders will board hovercycles — flying-bike vehicles — and assume a prone, face-forward position suspended beneath the track. The custom-designed, terrain-following layout encompasses 20 unique track elements and packs an action-filled 80 seconds into a dynamic aerial adventure. Guests will launch multiple times to speeds reaching 50 mph, encounter 12 airtime moments, soar through five unique inversions (wing-over, zero-g roll, overbanked stall turn, barrel roll and upward barrel roll) and race through a dramatic station fly-by as they traverse nearly 3.5 acres. Enhanced by synchronized onboard audio and immersive lighting effects, every moment is designed to amplify the sensation of speed, flight and freedom.
Upon opening, Thrill Glider will set a collection of records, including:
World's First Thrillglider
World's First Multi-Launch Thrillglider
World's Longest Thrillglider – 3,380 feet, which is more than half a mile
World's Fastest Thrillglider – 50 mph
World's Tallest Thrillglider – 107 feet
Most Inversions on a Thrillglider – 5
Thrill Glider will immerse visitors in the world of QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems, a visionary technology company led by inventor and entrepreneur Rebecca Silva. The journey begins long before takeoff in "The Futurist Pavilion," a sleek showcase facility filled with dynamic displays, holographic presentations and scientific exhibits detailing the company's discovery of PSR B417, a powerful new energy source with the potential to transform tomorrow. As riders make their way through the queue, they catch glimpses of towering hexagonal collectors embedded into the hillside, harvesting energy from distant pulsars in space. Upon entering the load station, illuminated blue energy lines, aerodynamic architecture and pulsing atmospheric audio build anticipation as riders prepare to board QuantumPulse's latest breakthrough. Once launched, the power of PSR B417 will be felt firsthand as the vehicles soar above the landscape through sweeping maneuvers, sudden dives and weightless moments that simulate piloting a high-speed hovercycle powered by tomorrow's technology. Blending engaging storytelling, futuristic design and advanced coaster technology, Thrill Glider delivers a one-of-a-kind adventure that transports guests into an optimistic vision of the future.
"Thrill Glider is more than a new attraction. It is the latest milestone in Six Flags Magic Mountain's renaissance and a reflection of the park's enduring role as an industry innovator," said Brian Oerding, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain. "With a decades-long reputation for introducing record-breaking attractions and genre-defining rides, Magic Mountain is uniquely positioned to pioneer an entirely new coaster category and bring Thrill Glider to life."
At Magic Mountain, excitement isn't defined by a single measurement. For some guests, that means chasing record-breaking speeds and inversions. For others, it's the feeling of soaring through the air, experiencing weightlessness for the first time or sharing an unforgettable ride with family and friends. As the park continues to evolve, it is introducing attractions that appeal to a wider range of guests while maintaining its reputation as the Thrill Capital of the World. Thrill Glider represents that vision, delivering a new kind of excitement that makes the sensation of flight accessible to more riders than ever before. With a minimum height requirement of just 48 inches, Thrill Glider will be open to a broad range of thrill seekers, from families and first-time coaster riders to dedicated enthusiasts.
Thrill Glider will be located on the former site of the Golden Bear Theatre between Full Throttle and LEX LUTHOR™: Drop of Doom and adjacent to the recently reimagined Looney Tunes™ Land. The ride is already under construction and is scheduled to open in 2027. Additional details and opening information will be announced at a later date.

Six Flags acquires iconic ArieForce One, bringing fan-favorite roller coaster back to life
Acclaimed roller coaster will debut at a Six Flags park during the 2028-2029 seasons, launching speculation among coaster fans worldwide
ARLINGTON, TEXAS (September 8, 2026) – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE:FUN), North America’s largest regional amusement-resort operator, has acquired ArieForce One, the celebrated steel roller coaster that captured the imagination of thrill-seekers around the world and quickly earned recognition as one of the most acclaimed coaster experiences of the modern era. Six Flags will introduce the attraction at one of its parks during the 2028-2029 operating seasons.
While the coaster's future home remains under wraps, today's announcement officially launches what is expected to become one of the most closely watched and passionately debated conversations in the theme park industry: Where will ArieForce One rise again?
For three years, ArieForce One built a devoted following among roller coaster enthusiasts who traveled from across the country and around the world to experience its signature blend of speed, airtime, inversions and nonstop intensity. Named in honor of Fun Spot America founder John Arie Sr. by the family-owned company that developed the attraction, ArieForce One represented both an ambitious investment and a personal legacy for the Arie family.
When the attraction closed in August, fans openly mourned the loss of a coaster many considered one of the finest steel roller coasters ever built. Since then, the question has echoed throughout enthusiast communities, online forums and social media channels: Can one of the world’s most celebrated coasters be saved?
Today, Six Flags proudly answers that question.
"From the moment ArieForce One closed, we knew how much this coaster meant to the enthusiast community and to guests who traveled from around the world to experience it," said Mark Pauls, chief operating officer of Six Flags. "This is a ride that consistently generated excitement, acclaim and passionate fan support. We are thrilled to preserve its legacy, invest in its future and bring this extraordinary attraction to a new generation of guests. This acquisition represents our commitment to delivering world-class thrills and creating unforgettable experiences across the Six Flags portfolio."
“When we built ArieForce One, we wanted to create something truly special. Something that would put Fun Spot America on the map with coaster enthusiasts and families around the world and create memories that would last a lifetime,” said John Arie Jr, CEO of Fun Spot America. “Seeing ArieForce One preserved and finding a new home with Six Flags means a great deal to me and my family. Its story isn’t ending, it’s beginning a new chapter, and we are excited that future generations will get to experience ArieForce One.
Pauls added that while fans now know ArieForce One's future is secure, one major mystery remains.
"Part of the excitement is that the story isn't over," Pauls said. "We know fans will immediately begin theorizing about which Six Flags park is the perfect fit. The passion surrounding ArieForce One is unlike anything we've seen in recent years, and when the time comes to reveal its new home, we believe that announcement will be just as exciting as the acquisition itself."
Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, ArieForce One quickly earned industry acclaim for its relentless pacing, massive airtime moments, innovative elements and unforgettable ride experience. The coaster became a bucket-list attraction for enthusiasts and a fixture on best-in-the-world rankings, making its closure one of the most discussed stories in the amusement industry. To honor that legacy, Six Flags plans to retain the classic ArieForce One name, honoring the coaster's history and preserving the identity that helped make it a fan favorite.
Now, its next chapter begins.
Since news of the closing began circulating, coaster enthusiasts have filled fan communities with theories about acquisitions and where the attraction might ultimately be installed. From parks already known for their world-class coaster collections to destinations seeking a marquee signature attraction, enthusiasts have begun making their cases for why their favorite park should become the new home of ArieForce One.
"The coaster enthusiast community has spent months wondering whether ArieForce One would be saved and where it might ultimately find a new home," said Derek Perry, president-elect of American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE), the world’s largest amusement ride enthusiast organization. "Preservation is central to ACE's mission, so enthusiasts everywhere were hopeful this remarkable coaster would have a future beyond its original park. Today's announcement answers one question and opens the door to another. The speculation about which park will receive ArieForce One is going to be enormous.”
Perry added, “Its farewell brought enthusiasts together from across the globe to celebrate a ride they love, and now they’ll be watching every clue and announcement as Six Flags prepares for its next chapter."
Once reassembled and enhanced at its new Six Flags destination, the attraction is expected to become one of the premier thrill experiences in North America, drawing coaster enthusiasts, vacationers and adrenaline seekers alike.

An inspirational setting for both Dolly and generations of Dollywood guests, the Robert F. Thomas Chapel will receive new elements that reflect Dolly’s faith and connection to the Smoky Mountains.
A cascading mountainside waterfall will be added just outside the chapel’s front steps, creating a peaceful setting for guests to pause, reflect and enjoy the natural beauty that inspired so much of Dolly’s life and work. The chapel also will receive new stained-glass windows commissioned to reflect Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV), the Bible verse that resonated deeply with Dolly: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Inspired by Dolly’s love for the Smokies and the many seasons of her life and career, the windows depict the changing seasons of the mountains.
None of Dolly’s accomplishments speak more profoundly to her love for children and her belief in the power of imagination than her founding of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program has gifted more than 330 million books to children around the world and is the largest children’s literacy program of its kind. To celebrate this important part of Dolly’s work and to inspire the next generation of dreamers, a new character, the Dream Maker, will come to Dollywood’s Wildwood Grove area in 2027. Through stories and interactive experiences, the Dream Maker will encourage guests to dream big, believe in themselves and lift others up through courage and kindness. The Dream Maker and her Dream Wagon will give children an opportunity to share their own dreams, hear stories inspired by Dolly and discover that dreams can become even more meaningful when they are shared with others.
Special kiosks also will be located throughout Wildwood Grove, giving guests a place to share their own thoughts and notes about how Dolly inspired them to dream their own big dreams.
A new portal into The Dolly Parton Experience will welcome guests into the attraction’s immersive collection of moments, stories and memorabilia. The new entrance will provide a fitting gateway to the area dedicated to celebrating the life and work of Dollywood’s Dreamer-in-Chief.
A memorial currently stands in Dollywood’s welcome plaza for those who wish to remember and celebrate Dolly. The memorial is a special place for all who would like to reflect on her life, honor her profound contributions and celebrate the joy she brought to so many people around the world.
Beyond the gates of Dollywood, “In Dolly’s Footsteps,” a new program developed by the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce, will debut soon. Special walking-tour markers will be placed at locations throughout Sevierville that Dolly and her family frequented in her youth, offering visitors an opportunity to learn more about the places and experiences that helped shape her. One of the markers was on display for media during the announcement.
Together, these additions reflect the spirit of Dolly’s vision for Dollywood—a place where kindness is celebrated and guests can make lifelong memories. As Dollywood continues to grow, Dolly’s influence will remain woven into the experiences guests share, the dreams that are inspired and the lives that are touched. Her extraordinary vision will continue to shape the park for generations to come.

Six Flags Announces Corporate Headquarters Relocation to Arlington, Texas
Strategic move positions company at the center of its North American operations while building on a legacy that began in Arlington
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 25, 2026) – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, North America’s largest regional amusement-resort operator, today announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Charlotte, N.C., to its current offices in Arlington, Texas in 2027.
The Arlington headquarters will serve as the primary hub for the company's corporate leadership and shared business functions. Choctaw Stadium has served as a corporate office since 2020 and is currently home to a portion of the company's corporate workforce. The relocation is expected to be completed by March 2027.
Six Flags’ return to the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex reflects its continued evolution, and positions the company in a central location to more efficiently support its network of 34 amusement and water parks and nine resorts across North America. Arlington’s proximity to the company’s five Texas parks brings leadership closer to many of its operations, while the city’s robust transportation access, dynamic business environment and location within one of the nation's premier entertainment and tourism districts makes it an ideal home for the company’s headquarters.
“Arlington is an outstanding location for our headquarters and supports our long-term vision for growth," said John Reilly, president and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. "Its central location and business-friendly environment make it a strong base for our company. Bringing our corporate teams together in the office will improve collaboration, strengthen our culture, enhance support for our parks and resorts, and help us continue delivering exceptional experiences for guests across North America. We are grateful to the City of Arlington and local leaders for their partnership and support, and we are committed to contributing to the community’s growth and success.”
Arlington also holds a special place in the company's history as the home of Six Flags Over Texas, which opened in 1961. While the relocation decision is grounded in strategic business considerations, it also reconnects the company with the community where the Six Flags legacy began more than six decades ago.
"Arlington is a vibrant entertainment district where the Six Flags story began. With our office just next door to Six Flags Over Texas, one of our premier parks, we enable our leadership to have a meaningful on-the-ground presence at the park and greater connectivity to all five of our Texas properties," Reilly said.
Earlier this summer, Six Flags Over Texas celebrated the opening of Tormenta: Rampaging Run, the world's first giga dive coaster and a record-breaking new attraction that changed the city’s skyline and further reinforces Arlington's position as a premier entertainment destination. The debut brought together local officials, community partners, tourism leaders and park guests in recognition of the attraction's economic and cultural significance to the region. The strong support and engagement surrounding Tormenta's opening reflects the connection between Six Flags and the Arlington community as the Company continues to invest in experiences that drive visitation, tourism, and growth.
Six Flags remains committed to the communities it serves across North America. In the Charlotte region, the company will continue investing in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor, including the park's highly anticipated new attraction, Rip Roarin' Falls, scheduled to open in 2027. The company has several other major projects underway across its park footprint for the 2027 season which comprise one of its most ambitious capital attractions lineups in its history. These include:
• Bakunawa, the world's tallest and fastest spinning coaster, opening at Six Flags Great Adventure
• Werewolf Gorge, the world's longest family launch coaster, debuting at Six Flags Fiesta Texas
• Camp Timber Trail, an expansive family adventure area anchored by Sky Hawk, the Midwest's longest, tallest and fastest suspended family coaster, coming to Six Flags Great America
• Coral Craze and Kelp Kraze, innovative new family raft slides featuring ride systems opening at Knott’s Soak City
"We are deeply grateful to our Charlotte-based and shared services team members whose dedication, passion and expertise have helped shape our company," Reilly added. "Their contributions have been invaluable, and we are committed to supporting them throughout this transition with respect, transparency and care. Many team members will have the opportunity to relocate to Arlington and continue helping drive our success into the future."
The company will continue to have an office in Sandusky, Ohio.
