Step beyond the headlines of World War II and into the human stories that history almost forgot.
Untold WW2 Stories reveals true accounts of survival and defiance — from POW doctors performing impossible surgeries to soldiers who survived the unthinkable.
Each film is grounded in documented research, including my 2009 UNC Asheville thesis “Japanese Prisoner of War Camps: Attitude, Medical Treatment & Survival.”
These stories preserve the voices of those who lived through the Pacific and European campaigns — men and women who faced starvation, captivity, and moral choices under fire.
Through short-form storytelling, cinematic visuals, and verified historical sources, this channel honors their resilience and restores their place in memory.
🎖 Because survival was only half the story.

True WW2 Stories - Heroics, POWs, Survival
On this day — September 8, 1944
There was no air-raid siren and no aircraft overhead when an explosion tore through Staveley Road in Chiswick, London.
Britain had just been struck by its first V-2 ballistic missile. Traveling faster than sound, it arrived without warning.
Three people were killed: three-year-old Rosemary Clarke, Ada Harrison, and Royal Engineer Bernard Browning, who was home on leave.
For Londoners, the age of warfare from space had begun on an ordinary residential street.
London never heard this weapon coming. The explosion arrived before the sound.

True WW2 Stories - Heroics, POWs, Survival
On this day — September 7, 1940
Twenty-four-year-old auxiliary fireman Frank Hurd was on duty at Euston Road when the first great Luftwaffe attack on London began.
Sent into the East End, Hurd fought fires while bombs continued falling and shrapnel rained around him. By midnight, he could see the entire riverfront glowing with fire.
This was the opening night of the Blitz. London would be bombed for 57 consecutive nights.
For men like Frank Hurd, the city itself had become the front line.

True WW2 Stories - Heroics, POWs, Survival
Java, 1942, WW2 POWs
Many of these men survived one nightmare... only to enter another.
Some were sailors from the USS Houston and HMAS Perth. After their ships were sunk in the Battle of Sunda Strait, survivors swam for hours through burning oil, floating wreckage, and shark-infested waters. Some reached Java only to be captured. Others were pulled from the sea by Japanese ships and became POWs immediately.
After Java fell in March 1942, thousands of Allied prisoners were confined in camps across the island. The earliest camps were difficult, but many were still far better than what lay ahead. As the war dragged on, thousands were sent to the Thailand–Burma Railway, where starvation, disease, and forced labor claimed countless lives.
The next story on my channel comes from one of those camps. A POW doctor risked another beating by returning after dark to treat an injured prisoner.
Would you have gone back?

True WW2 Stories - Heroics, POWs, Survival
General Douglas MacArthur made huge blunders following the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was obvious to everyone on base that the Philippines would be attacked next by the Japanese, but he didn't even tell his men that Pearl had been attacked. They heard it on the radio. Other blunders followed. and yet the man received the Medal of Honor. Several Generals felt that he didn't deserve the medal. He did nothing.
