Truth to Mormons (TTM) is an apologetic ministry founded by a former Mormon, now Christian. TTM's mission statement is to (1) Evangelize members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormons), and (2) To earnestly contend for the historical and biblical faith (Jude 3) by equipping Christians to know the distinctions that set LDS apart from the saving grace of God and the guiding doctrines of the historical Christian faith.
Truth to Mormons
Hey everyone. Here's a good example of how cults operate. The LDS Church has just produced a new curriculum for teaching "Primary" children (ages 12 years and younger) about its polygamist past....well, kind of. That was the first edition...before it got bad media, such as from the writer of the first article link below. The original childrens story included cartoon images of Joe Smith holding his wife's hand (Emma...the first one), and explaining that "Sometimes, Emma helped Joseph decide who he should ask to marry him. Other times, Emma did not want Joseph to marry other women." It included a similar cartoon of Brigham Young praying with his wife about the terrible dilemma of accumulating wives....or at least that's the reluctant idea the Church wants you to have.
The teaching point? LDS should exercise "faith to obey a law from the Lord, even when it's hard." Poor Joseph, he didn't really want all those ladies and 14-year-old child brides, but God sent angels with a flaming sword to kill him if he didn't. You know the story...or maybe you don't....if only reading "faithful" materials, as the LDS Church instructs you do to (don't think about that one too hard LDS).
Well, because of the backlash, that this original telling of history would essentially be indoctrinating children to trust male authorities, even if children feel it's wrong...the restored church...led by a man from god, responded to PR pressure and changed the curriculum (this has been done so many times in history).
Now, the revised curriculum eliminates mentions of Emma Smith or Brigham Young's wives and just says that "usually a man should have only one wife. But sometimes the Lord commanded" otherwise.
Whitewashing exemplified. The Mormon Church just simply won't apologize for the stain of polygamy...or for disparaging the Christian God for somehow commanding it. It can't. Polygamy is part and parcel of the everlasting covenant and exaltation, and to abandon that now would rightly call out to all LDS that their prophets and apostles have been apostate all along.

Truth to Mormons
Hello all. For those of you who have been following the Church shell company scandal that brought fines by the SEC, here's an interesting article from the Tribune if you haven't seen in. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being sued for misuse and hiding how it has been using interest from tithing funds.
