GUYS PLEASE READ TILL THE END I BEG

Honestly, Harry Potter is one of the most overrated characters ever. I’m not saying he’s a bad character, but the way everyone treats him like he’s some unbelievably talented and perfect hero has always confused me. He’s brave, obviously, but most of the time his bravery is mixed with terrible decision-making. He constantly ignores warnings, breaks rules, gets himself into dangerous situations, and then somehow everyone acts like he had no other choice. Hermione is usually the one doing the research, making plans, and actually thinking things through, while Harry’s solution is often just to go straight toward the problem and hope it works out. He also has this habit of assuming that because something feels suspicious to him, he has to personally investigate it, even when there are literally trained adults around who could help. And somehow he keeps getting praised for things that were partly luck, circumstances, or the help of his friends.

The whole “chosen one” reputation also does a lot of heavy lifting for him. Without the prophecy, the scar, and the dramatic history, Harry is basically a stubborn teenager with questionable judgment who happens to keep ending up in the middle of important events. He’s not a terrible person, and he definitely has good qualities, but he can be frustratingly self-centered and reckless. Meanwhile, characters like Hermione, Ron, Neville, and even several of the teachers often contribute just as much, if not more, without receiving nearly the same level of attention. And let’s not even get started on his hair, because after seven years of magic, apparently nobody thought to invent a spell for that. 😭

Overall, Harry isn’t nearly as impressive as the reputation surrounding him makes him seem. He’s brave, loyal, and determined, but he’s also impulsive, stubborn, and constantly one bad decision away from creating another disaster. I feel like the wizarding world spent so much time calling him a legend that they forgot to mention he was also just a teenager who really needed to learn how to mind his own business.
