Radioactive Drew

My name is Drew and I look for and explore radioactive items and places. Many people believe that the only radioactive places are in Chernobyl and Fukushima...the truth is our world is far more radioactive than many people realize. I make videos that show these places and items to better understand our radioactive world and to share that journey with others.

Radioactive Drew

I'll be visiting a research reactor at a University to make a video about it and the program they have at the school. If you have any questions you want to know about this reactor, let me know and I'll see if I can work it into the video.

Radioactive Drew

I've been noticing something when I was going through footage working on the Polonium 210 video. Some of the shots there seems to be a blue glow. So I decided to do some long exposure photography of this 5 mCi Po-210 source and I saw that it was ionizing the air and I could capture it. Working on some timelapse shots of the source. The green glow is from the x-ray intensifying screen the source was sitting on.

Getting my transmission swapped out is taking longer than expected. Still working on videos here but it’s usually slower away from home. Next video will be about the 5 mCi Po-210 source and how that isotope was used to carry out an assassination.

Not Fun. I found out from my brother the mechanic that there is a limp mode. Where a vehicle will go into to stop further damage to components. My transmission was acting up and this happened over 500 miles from home. I found out as long as I didn’t have the truck in drive and in 4th gear I could drive fine. So I did 55 mph all the way home. I was that ding-dong you pass on the highway going 55 when I should be going 80.

Radioactive Drew

Parting Gift from Oregon. During my last day in Oregon training my brother to take over the 70mm projection job, my battery light came on. After some testing it turned out that both the alternator and my battery were dying. So I changed my alternator in the theater parking lot while my brother ran The Odyssey in 70mm. What a pain that was.
