This is a healing community space for Black Women, specifically those of us who have encountered challenging often traumatic work experiences. We share, validate, and support in this space as we "lift as we climb"*.
Through my professional experiences as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and personal traumas as a Toxic Job Survivor, I focus on uplifting as many Black Women as I can as a Toxic Job Liberator™.
I pray that any Black Woman who watches my videos will know that she is not alone in having challenging work experiences and that there are resources (many of which I provide) that can help her create a life that she deserves (and still pay her bills).
Sis, I see you, I hear you, and I am here to support you...Dr. Kimani
*"Lifting As We Climb" is the motto of the National Association of Colored Women (NACW) which was founded by Mary Church Terrell and other powerful Black Women in 1896 with a focus on addressing social and political issues impacting our communities.

Financial dependence is not just a money problem. It is a freedom problem.
This Sunday, I am going LIVE with Semirath Fagbemi — Founder of Black Women Build Wealth and The Wealthy Black Women Summit — to answer the question that changes everything:
What shifts in your life when you finally have enough financial security to stop tolerating what is harming you?
We are talking toxic jobs, relationships, family financial pressure, retirement, and building wealth on your own terms.

Lifting As We Climb Consulting
Today, I went LIVE with Dr. Pamela Buchanan — and the conversation got real.
Black Women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in America.
Growing at 13% in 2025 alone.
And yet — 80% of Black-owned businesses close within 18 months.
One of the biggest reasons?
Black Women are giving away what people should be paying for.

"I do not even know if I have it in me to apply to another job because I am scared of what it will do to me if I get another rejection."
A Black Woman said that in the comments this week.
She is not alone.
More than 600,000 Black Women have been pushed out of the labor market since 2025. (IWPR — Barriers, Not Bootstraps, 2026)
We are the most educated demographic in America yet, have the highest unemployment rate.
I am going to say the quiet parts out loud...
Racism and sexism do not make logical sense.
You cannot out-degree or out-credential oppression.
No job is safe at this point.
But there are still options.
Black Women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in America.
Tomorrow, Dr. Pamela Buchanan, Board Certified Physician and Toxic Job Survivor, and I are talking about how to build something that actually survives — not just starts.
Because mindset without strategy is just motivation that fades by Monday.

Lifting As We Climb Consulting
A toxic job does not just consume your time.
It consumes your curiosity.
Your imagination.
Your joy.
Your creativity.
And even after you leave, you may discover that you physically exited the workplace
while still carrying pieces of it with you.
Today, I am sitting down with Bellamy, The Coloring Book Creator, for a conversation about what it actually means to release a toxic job and make space for creativity again.
Because here is what I want to ask every Black Woman reading this...
What did you used to enjoy before the job consumed you?
What parts of yourself got pushed aside?
What might you be able to create if you gave yourself permission to imagine again?
Bellamy survived a toxic job.
Named what she had to release after leaving.
Reconnected with the creative parts of herself that had been pushed aside.
And then —
she launched a coloring book.
Today, we are talking about the journey from having a creative idea to believing that idea deserves to exist in the world.
And what it takes to move through the fear, the self-doubt, and the old workplace messages that can follow us long after the job ends.

"That's why I like your sister better than you. Because she's White and you're Black."
She heard that in the first grade.
And it taught her something most of us do not have language for
until much later —
Racism and colorism can happen at the same time.
To the same person.
In the first grade.
This Sunday, I am sitting down
with three incredible Black Women —
Dr. Sarah L. Webb
Author of "Colorism: The Politics of Skin Tone and How We Get Free"
@DrSarahLWebb
Dr. Maya
Teacher and Virtual Assistant
@flylikemephd
Colette Elizabeth, MA
Content Creator
@ColetteElizabeth
for a conversation about something that lives in Black families, schools,
workplaces, and communities —
and is rarely named with the honesty it deserves.
Because sometimes the earliest messages about skin tone, hair texture,
and features come from the very people who love us most.
And we cannot talk about colorism without talking about power and safety.

What happened to her federal career became part of her story.
She refused to let it become the whole story.
Today, I am sitting down with Monique Fortenberry, J.D., Former Federal Senior Executive, Lawyer, Organizational Strategist, and Founder of SisterFeds® which is
a private community for Black Women across the broader federal ecosystem
for a conversation that every Black Woman in or leaving federal service needs to hear.
Because the most dangerous moment is not the layoff.
It is the years spent in a career that has become the center of identity without ever asking:
Who am I outside of this title?
What do I want to build next?
Do I stay?
Do I retire?
Do I pivot?
Do I build something of my own?
Today, Monique and I are answering all four.

Lifting As We Climb Consulting
Physically left the building. Mentally never made it to the parking lot.
The exhaustion that does not disappear after a weekend.
The Sunday dread.
Racing thoughts.
Constant tension.
And then the leave gets approved...the body finally pauses.
But the mind?
Still replaying conversations.
Still checking emails.
Still clocked in.
This Sunday, I am sitting down with Dr. Natalie Watson-Singleton, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Associate Psychology Professor, and Director of NWS Wellness and Consulting, LLC, for a conversation about what it actually takes to decompress
not just physically but mentally, somatically, and neurologically.
Because taking leave is not about proving how much more can be tolerated.
Sometimes it means finally paying attention to what the mind and body have been trying to communicate for a very long time.

Dr. Jason Arday was celebrated for his brilliance.
Then came the public humiliation, dogpiling, character attacks, and institutional silence.
His story is a pattern.
This Sunday — we are calling it out.
Tomorrow, I am hosting a panel conversation with:
Dr. Leah P. Hollis
Professor & Author
Dr. Tara B. Blackshear
Associate Professor & Author
Dr. Brian Culp
Professor & Author
The questions we are asking:
Can a university hold someone accountable without becoming part of the workplace mob?
Does race and disability change the level of protection the academy provides to Black academics?
Do our identities determine whose errors become career-ending public spectacles?
This conversation is for every Black professional who has watched this happen
to a colleague and/or who has lived it themselves.
Because the accumulation of rumor, exclusion, and repeated public attacks that makes removal look justified is not an accident.
It is a pattern.
