I’m on the cadge for old TV recordings, especially anything with a North East flavour – local programmes, regional news, Tyne Tees, BBC Look North, community TV, oddball one-offs… the lot.
If you’ve got VHS tapes, DVDs, or recordings gathering dust in a cupboard or loft and you’re happy to pass them on for free, I’d love to give them a new lease of life. They may be used for historical content, research, and inspiration on A Touch of Tyne.

What is it about Geordie Dancer that captures that raw unadulterated essence of having a mint time? It's the letting go of all inhibition, dancing like no one is watching in front of your bedroom mirror and finishing it off with a high kick, because nothing else was appropriate for the grand finale. We were all Geordie dancers at midnight in Foundation on a Thursday night back in the day. Although the mackem mover had his merits and was clearly classically trained, the movement of Geordie Dancer cannot be taught, isn't found in any fancy dance lessons and comes from the soul. SS Hestmanden is now in Newcastle! SS Hestmanden is a Norwegian steamer which served in both WW1 and WW2 as a cargo ship but has now been preserved as a war sailor museum. SS Hestmanden travelled up the Tyne today where it will be berthed at Spillers Wharf for visiting. The ship still sails under her own steam and is known in Norway as 'the lucky ship' having survived convoys in two world wars. She was greeted today by a water salute up the Tyne as a distinguished visitor. Even greeting us with the ship's horn as she travelled past North Shields.
