There was a version of me who knew how to survive.
She worked two jobs. She worked seven days a week. She raised her daughter. She kept moving when she was tired.
I will NEVER disrespect that woman by being ashamed of what she had to do.
But I also won’t disrespect her sacrifice by believing I must struggle forever.
That’s the difference.
Some survival habits stay with us long after the emergency is over: overworking, people-pleasing, doing everything alone, feeling guilty about rest, always preparing for something to go wrong.
Today, don’t just think about changing.
Do something different.
Put down ONE responsibility that no longer belongs to you.
Say ONE no.
Accept ONE offer of help.
Take ONE hour without feeling guilty.
Thank the woman who survived.
Then show her what all that surviving was FOR. ❤️

As a single mother working two jobs seven days a week, survival taught me resilience, discipline and determination. But reinvention taught me something else:
I don’t have to struggle forever just because I know how to survive.

I got FIRED and I definitely wasn’t calling it a blessing when it happened.
I was a single mom. I had bills. I had a daughter depending on me. I needed that paycheck.
But losing one job didn’t mean I lost ME.
I still had my sewing skills.
I still had experience.
I still had my work ethic.
I still had the ability to build again.
Years later, I can see something I couldn’t see then:
Sometimes the door that closes is the door that finally makes us MOVE.
That’s reinvention.
Not pretending the loss didn’t hurt—but refusing to believe the loss gets to write the rest of your story.
So if something has recently ended a job, relationship, opportunity, season or version of yourself ask:
“Is this rejection… or could this be REDIRECTION?”

What if your next chapter isn’t hiding in something NEW? What if it’s hiding in something you’ve been carrying for years?
For me, it was sewing. 🧵
I learned the skill long before I understood how many seasons of my life those hands would help carry me through.
As a single mom, I sewed during the day and worked at Walmart at night.
When that Walmart job eventually disappeared, my gift didn’t.
That’s something I want every woman over 50 and 60 to understand:
You are not starting empty-handed.
You have skills.
You have wisdom.
You have stories.
You have experience.
And sometimes we’ve done something for so long that we stop recognizing how valuable it is.
So here’s today’s reinvention question:

Two jobs. Seven days a week. And I was still Mom.
That season taught me how strong I was but it also taught me something I’ve come to understand much more deeply with age:
Being capable of carrying a heavy load doesn’t mean you’re required to carry it forever.
I am proud of the woman who survived that season. But she wasn’t working that hard because struggle was the goal.
She was building CHOICES.
Today, at almost 62, my reinvention looks different.
More peace.
More purpose.
More freedom.
More intention.
And less proving how much I can endure.
If you’re going through a hard season, remember:
Where you are today is not necessarily where your story ends. ❤️
