PRACTICE & PREACH : Opposing poor spirit teachers. ============================================
James I and II teach us how Christ instructs us to behave, in a way that develops faith in those of poor spirits. Poor spirits are the cause of emotional weakness and poor decisions. Describing qualities which demonstrate maturity in faith, and trust in our Lord's Word. For we wrestle against the spirits of men and their fleshy desires, but we are not to follow in their ways. Please read along with James I here.
Despite our own weaknesses, God has given us sufficient equipment for this difficult task. Using the armour of God, and His Word we are to rise above, we are to set an example. Rather than be dragged down into the mud to fight like animals, we are elevated and inspired to promote Christ's "Big Three" (Charity, Hope, Faith) :
- Charity as forbearance, to see beyond the provocations of our misguided brothers. - Hope as patience, to endure and then forgive the trespasses of others.
- Faith as confidence, in the Scripture and ourselves to follow it to completion.
"Let patience have her perfect work" James lobbies tirelessly to prevent in-fighting or worthless pitfights in which verses are weaponised against others. And after that, he confirms that any insufficiency we find should be brought to God through our prayers - lest we become arrogant in our deceit "Let him ask God". How many times must we see our brothers set up walls of archers against one another. The misguided notion that God wishes us to take a sword to our brothers; to judge and punish others where Scripture denies us this. The truth is "Vengeance be unto the Lord", a clear guidance to all those who deem themselves worthy enough to steal this vengeance from Him. Again we are to rise above these base desires for personal glory :
- Charity as concession, to walk away from arguments which bring us no gain.
- Hope as expectation, that the Lord's hand will close around our opponent.
- Faith as loyalty, to deny ourselves the glory which rightfully belongs to our Lord.
We can see the clear pattern developing, which is the light of guidance for us. We can take the example given in James, and walk the path to Christ rather than the path to our own false glorification. And in doing so, show grace as we ask for grace, and forgiveness as we expect it ourselves. The guidance is that bad-tempered arguments ending in slanderous wrath, are not works we do for God but for our own pride. James tells us "The wrath of men worketh not the righteousness of God" with imperatives to listen intently though be slow to respond, to give patience her perfect work through Christ's example. Humility is the answer to stubborn pride and gross egotism. We are taught "Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only". It is the most clear-cut lesson against our base desires, and where we can put obedience before obstinance - God is with us against any foe.
Here is the bullet list abstract therefore, of Christ's perfect example :
1. Speak the truth in love, without wrath sarcasm spite or fury. 2. Restore those caught up in their egotism, with gentle persuasion not anger.
3. Avoid foolish arguments, vain debates by holding our tongues, wise in our silence.
4. Be swift to listen without errant judgements, and slow to respond or become angry.
5. Choose our words carefully, obey God with humility rather than arrogance.
6. Understand, that behaviours demonstrate good spirit; and not our harsh words.
The final conclusion to James I teaching, can be summed up with a single verse. "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue... This man's religion is vain". And that is what we must remember when we are participants in any theology discussions. Winning the praise of men is VANITY, keeping your promise before Christ is SANITY.
Let us prepare our brothers for every type of good works, allow for the trespasses of others and show obedience to our Lord. Not as slaves, but as volunteers for His great purpose. To serve His mission on Earth and to truly be keepers of our brothers.

False religions such as Islam can "get away" with just creating millions of babies and claiming growth via deception, though I would imagine they are equally affected by this. The issue is not just dropping numbers, but also a MASSIVE DROP IN SPIRITUAL ADHERENCE to the beautiful traditions of Christ. Nobody likes to admit when they've dropped the ball, and we can just as easily test this out on ourselves.
- CHARITY, Are you regularly helping the needy with charity? - HOPE, Do you propagate renewals of hope in others? - FAITH, Do you use your own faith, to encourage it in others? - GRACE, Can you honestly say you show grace to others? - TRUTH, Do you treat lies from others as those from yourself? - LOYALTY, Are you known to keep your promises? - WISDOM, Are you actually wise in the ways of Scripture? - KINSHIP, Do you keep your brothers even when they err? - FORGIVENESS, Are you regularly forgiving the way Christ asks? - VIRTUE, Do you avoid the regular practice of sinful ways? - JOYFUL, Are you joyful rather than wrathful in your worship? - HUMILITY, Are you able to remain humble despite God's help?
Sadly for 90% of Christian new or worn THEY CAN DO NOTHING OF THESE and that shows you the truth of their worships. Fact is that the 90% of fake lying hypocrites may as well be Muslims for all the righteousness they avoid and the evil they seek! So keep in mind over the months ahead, as the world shakes to it's core - and many many people fall to Satan's guile. That many WILL BE SAVED and that will be based on the strength of the PRACTICAL ACTION of the faith, and not on false words.
It never mattered more than it does today, God is counting on you to keep your word! Not just to Him, but to your word itself. For a man's value is in the strength of his honour.
