Renault turns Duster into a lifestyle pickup. Meet the Niagara.

For now, the Niagara will be produced in Argentina and launched across Latin American markets, with Brazil getting it later this year.

At around 4.9 metres long, the Niagara is positioned between a traditional pickup and an SUV. It gets a double-cab layout, a 938-litre cargo bed and up to 654kg of payload capacity.

Under the bonnet, the Brazilian-spec version gets a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol/flex-fuel engine making 162 PS, with manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox options.

There will be both 4x2 and 4x4 versions, while a hybrid 4x4 is also in the pipeline.

Inside, the Niagara gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, connected features and up to 48-colour ambient lighting. It also gets ADAS & a 360-degree camera.

The Niagara is based on Renault’s RGMP platform, which is particularly interesting for us in India because RGMP is also part of Renault India’s upcoming product strategy.

But before you get too excited…

🇮🇳 An India launch has NOT been confirmed yet.

Still, if Renault ever decides to bring a pickup to India, this could be a very interesting proposition.
