🚨 DVSA ENFORCEMENT: Driving Test Fraud – Court Cases & Compliance Tips

The DVSA has published its September 2026 update on driving test fraud, highlighting the consequences for those who attempt to cheat the system.

⚖️ In this latest update:

🔹 Court case: A man received suspended prison sentences after attempting to cheat his theory test using a Bluetooth device and later arranging for someone else to take the test on his behalf.

🔹 The consequences: Both offences resulted in suspended prison sentences, 360 hours of unpaid work, rehabilitation requirements and £2,610 in costs.

🔹 Reporting fraud: The DVSA explains how to report suspected driving test impersonation and what information to include to help its investigation.

👨‍🏫 For Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs): We all have a responsibility to uphold the integrity of the driving test and help learners gain their licences honestly. While waiting times remain a challenge, cheating is not the answer.

The message is clear: driving test fraud can have serious legal consequences.

💬 What are your thoughts on the penalties for driving test fraud? Do you think they send a strong enough message to deter others?

🚨 Did you know you cannot use every car for your driving test?

I spotted this notice at a local driving test centre, and there are some vehicles on the list that might surprise you!

The notice says the following cannot be used for the practical driving test because they do not give the examiner all-round vision:

🚫 Any panel van without rear seats or rear side windows
🚫 BMW 218 Convertible
🚫 BMW Mini Convertible
🚫 Ford KA Convertible
🚫 Polestar 4
🚫 Polestar 5
🚫 Smart Fortwo (2-door)
🚫 Toyota iQ
🚫 VW Beetle Convertible

Some of these might be cars you would never expect to be restricted.

Did you know about these restrictions? And is there one on the list that surprised you? 👇

I have been advised by a few learners drivers around the UK, Liverpool, Leicester and Glasgow, to name a few. That there is a page on Facebook and instagram claiming to be myself and charging for driving lessons and then not turning up.

I am based in Cardiff and do not have any instructors working under my driving school name.

Please be aware that if any one contacts myself for driving lessons I will always direct to the official website to fill out a contact form before committing to any sort of payment.
If you are asked to pay for lessons upfront. DO NOT PAY!!

Facebook and instagram have been informed but are refusing to remove these fraudulent pages.

🎙️ We’re heading to BBC Radio Wales!

Tomorrow morning, Friday 18th September at 8:40am, I’ll be visiting the BBC Radio Wales studios in Cardiff for an interview about something that has become a huge part of learning to drive — social media.

We’ll be talking about how platforms like YouTube can help learner drivers, but also how they can sometimes make learning to drive more confusing.

I’ll also be talking about why I create the content I do and how I try to use social media to help learners understand the decisions they need to make behind the wheel. 🚗

💬 But I want to know what YOU think…

Has social media helped you while learning to drive?

Have you ever watched a driving video that made something suddenly click?

Or has something you've seen online actually made learning more confusing? 🤔

Drop your thoughts in the comments — I’d love to hear them.

You can listen to the interview live from 8:40am tomorrow, and the programme will be available to listen back to for up to 30 days.
