I spoke to a parent today who repeatedly said his daughter cannot cope with anything, she is a slow learner, her CGPA is very low. She studies Biotechnology.

The daughter had a poker face, but it was evident, his words were piercing her heart!

The daughter is a Bharatnatyam graduate, and has won several prizes in art competitions. 🧑‍🎨

Not just that, she is also pursuing her certification in Nursing and Phlebotomy and she is inclined towards the health & wellness space.

The daughter said and I quote "I love Biology, I ask questions in the class, but when I sit in the exam, I am not able to answer".

Some students are just bad test takers! I am one of them too. Infact I have failed in my Masters exam.

Besides, why is there so much shame around being a slow learner?

Slow, deep and deliberate learning helps in building strong fundamentals. 🏂

With her background, she can pursue Masters in Movement Studies, Food Studies/Nutrition Science, Nursing, Rehabilitation Science with a minor in Arts.

Imagine pairing Arts with Recovery, Wellness and Rehab! What a unique combination! 🙌

God forbid, if I ever need rehab, I would love to recover through arts. Wouldn't you?

Parents and students, both have to understand today, there is absolutely no skill or interest that can't lead to a unique and meaningful career.

So, please stop comparing and belittling your children. 🚫

The JEE exams have begun! In the first session held in Jan, over 12 lakh students took the exam.

The acceptance rate at IITs is b/w 0.5-2.5%. IIT-B is even lower, about 0.2%. It is unfair.

Imagine 17-18 year olds living under the impression their career is ruined because they couldn't get into IIT.

Unfortunately students live with this deteriorated self-image for a long time with lasting damage to self-confidence. This mentality has to change!

What's going to set up students for success is not whether they got into IIT or not, but what projects students are involved in.

Projects are a game changer! There is no better advantage. ⚡

Projects develop skills, work ethic and help gain a deeper understanding of the subject.

If you have a good number of projects under your belt, you can build an interesting career for sure.

The uniqueness to each one of us is defined by our interests and skills driven by our curiosity.

Are you planning on giving multiple entrance exams?

It's the peak entrance exams season, and students are prepping for multiple exams simultaneously.

Recently one such student reached out to me, she is planning to give NEET, NEST and NATA.

Please note this is a bad strategy!

All 3 exams-

- require extensive preparation,
- they are super competitive and
- most importantly all 3 exams are for completely different careers.

The worst part is, she is not even interested in Medicine or Architecture. The lack of unawareness is appalling!

This only shows confusion and panic among students. This may sound harsh, but the reality is many students will not excel in any of the exams because the system works against you.

100 students compete for 5 medical seats. 40,000 students compete for 200 seats at NISERs.

What students are missing is the number of career options available today.
