Hello 👋🏻 We’re Emily & Robi, and this is our second year building an off-grid homestead on 5 acres of abandoned land in rural Italy.

What started as an overgrown property with old stone ruins is slowly becoming our self-sufficient home. We’re restoring 100-year-old stone houses, clearing land, building essential off-grid systems, improving the soil, planting trees, growing food and learning every skill we need along the way.

We came here with minimal construction experience and a lot of determination. Everything you see is self-funded, built by us, and documented honestly — the progress, the mistakes, the hard weeks and the wins.

Hey everyone! We need your blueberry wisdom 🕵🏻‍♀️🫐

Our blueberry shrub flowered beautifully, but unfortunately all the tiny fruits died off and we got no berries at all. We have quite alkaline soil here and when planting we added things to help acidify it — but clearly something didn’t work.

Any blueberry-growing tips you swear by? Especially for alkaline soil?

(We don’t have access to pine trees/pine needles here!)
