I finished the lasting process yesterday.

It was quite difficult to smooth out the wrinkles in the leather on the instep.

This happened because I set the instep too narrow during the pattern making process.

I always realize this while working, but prioritizing the design makes the subsequent steps much harder.

Today, I plan to complete the hand-sewn welting process.

For a long time, I have received many requests through comments, emails, and Instagram messages asking for instructional videos.

The reason I haven't made them until now is that while I believe there are fundamental basics to making handmade shoes, there is no single right answer. I was worried that people watching my videos might come to believe, "This is the only correct way." Just like shoemaking, most things made by hand do not have one absolute answer.

Therefore, rather than creating a definitive "shoemaking manual," I am going to produce videos where I simply share the way I make shoes with you. I will make these videos educational by filming the process, drawing lines on the screen, and adding text explanations.

After considering which platform to use, I have decided to upload these instructional videos exclusively for YouTube channel members.

The content will cover everything about the overall shoemaking process. I will also create videos on topics you want based on members-only polls.

The membership tiers will be structured as follows:

* Tier 1 'Friends' ($1): For those who purely want to support the channel.
* Tier 2 'Shoemakers' ($10): For those who want to watch the instructional videos.
* Tier 3 'Masters' ($30): For those who want to watch past instructional videos.

To protect the rights of those who join early and watch the videos, and to maintain the value of the accumulating content, instructional videos will be moved to the Tier 3 'Masters' level 3 months after they are uploaded. Then, 3 months after being moved to the 'Masters' tier, those videos will be made completely private.

I will restart the membership system as I upload the first members-only instructional video.

I’m currently preparing to upload my very first video since moving to the new location.

I’m having trouble deciding on the thumbnail for this video and would love to hear your thoughts. I’ve uploaded four images with numbers on them. Please leave a comment with the number of the image you think would work best as the thumbnail!

I’m currently doing some midpoint video editing! Doing all the editing at the very end gets way too overwhelming, so I’m editing in batches as I go.

Looking through the footage, the new workshop turns out to be an amazing spot for controlling light—it’s neither too bright nor too dark, just right. My only worry now is that it might get too hot in here and mess with my focus while working!
