Once of my goals for this year was to discover and read new genres. To accomplish this goal, I am participating in the 25 Books by Black Authors in 25 Genres reading challenge. I will be documenting my journey while completing this challenge.

Before I started my reading journey in 2024, I used to hate reading. With all of the reading I had to do for work and school, reading was more of a chore and not enjoyable. Once I found my love for reading again, I decided that I was going to help others overcome their hate for reading and turn them into readers that actually love reading.

I realized last week that I reached this milestone and I really had to sit and let it sink in. This is something that I’ve been wanting to do for so long and didn’t because I was scared and I didn’t think anyone would watch me yap about my books. I was so wrong.
I am so appreciative of this community that we are building. Thank you for every view, like, comment, and rocking with my awkward and sometimes chaotic self. Nala’s Reading Room is what is because of you and I don’t take that granted.

For August, I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could beat how many books I read in July (my best reading month to date). Did I beat my July record?

Of course the first thing I do as soon as I get back from vacation is go so buy some books 🤦🏽♀️
I wanted to test out my theory and see if a Barnes and Noble in a more “urban” area would carry more Black Authors. Come test out my theory with me in today’s video.
