“Fiber is the new protein,” Ashton, host of the new podcast “Dear Dr. Jen,”, recently said on TODAY. “It is absolutely going to be the new protein.” I knew this, and this is why I started my channel. I know eating clean is a real challenge, and sometimes we just can't. BUT, for our long term health, we can try. I'm glad you are here!

Rain outside. Oven on. Game on. ☔️🔥
Rainy days have a way of making the kitchen feel like the best place in the house. So I’m staying in, turning on the oven, and making something warm, seriously delicious, and just a little better for you.
A little chopping. A little baking. Maybe something warm to sip.
Because when the weather says *stay in*… I say *what are we cooking?* 😉

Sleepy weekend. Humid Nebraska air.
No big plans required.
Sometimes the best kind of weekend is a bowl of something warm, a little crunch, and staying in.
🍿 Popcorn with a little something unexpected
🥣 A cozy pot of soup, maybe a veggie beef stew
🥕 Maybe a loaf of good whole wheat bread
☕ And absolutely nowhere to be.
This is my kind of weekend cooking — simple, homemade, full of flavor, and worth slowing down for.
The healthiest habit is homemade.

Sunday afternoon thought…
I’m thinking about all those beautiful late-summer vegetables that are starting to show up—and I’m already dreaming about September recipes.
I think some of the best meals start with one simple ingredient sitting in your kitchen.
A few beautiful figs.
A handful of tomatoes.
An ear of corn.
A couple of zucchini.
You don't always need a complicated recipe—you just need to know what to do with what you have. That's why I hope you watch what I have coming for Fall. I'm excited!!
What’s one ingredient you have right now that you’d love some inspiration for? 🍅🌽🍑 @michellethefiberista

🍓🍍🍋 The end of summer doesn’t mean the end of amazing fruit.
One of my favorite things about this time of year is finding ways to keep those bright, juicy summer flavors on the table—even as we start easing into fall.
Pineapple. Fresh lime. Sweet strawberries. 🍍✨🍓
They bring so much more than flavor: color, natural sweetness, freshness, and plenty of fiber. And the best part? You don’t have to say goodbye just because summer is winding down.
Freeze strawberries at their peak. Keep pineapple in the rotation. Always have a few limes on hand to wake up everything from fruit to salads to savory dishes.
I have a few delicious recipes coming up featuring these gorgeous ingredients, and I think you’re going to love them. 🌿
Summer flavors deserve a little longer on the table.

Monday needs a little heat. 🌶️🧄
I’m pickling 2 cups of garlic today—and I have a feeling this may become one of those things I keep in the refrigerator at all times.
Tangy. Spicy. A little sweet. And that gorgeous garlic flavor, but mellowed out by the vinegar.
I'm already thinking about putting it on salads, grilled chicken, grain bowls… and honestly, eating it straight from the jar. 😂
Would you try spicy pickled garlic? Fiberlish

Dear August,
I love you.
I really do.
But could you please stop trying to turn my kitchen into a sauna?
When it's this hot, I'm not looking for complicated recipes. I'm looking for cold, crunchy, colorful and satisfying.
Tomatoes. Cucumbers. Peaches. Berries. Beans. Fresh herbs. Avocado. Nuts. A little feta. Something cold, something chilly. Lots of lemon, maybe?
Basically, if it can go into a giant bowl and be dressed with olive oil, I'm definitely interested.
Because healthy eating shouldn't require suffering through 400 degrees of kitchen heat.
Eat beautifully. Eat simply. Stay cool.

🥵 IT IS TOO HOT TO COOK.
There. I said it.
If your kitchen currently feels like a sauna with a stove, I am giving you permission to NOT TURN ON THE OVEN. 😂
Healthy eating does not require sweating over a pot of something while the air conditioner fights for its life.
Today, I’m thinking:
🥒 crunchy cucumbers
🍅 juicy tomatoes
🍑 cold, sweet summer fruit
🫘 beans straight from the fridge
🐟 good canned fish
🥑 avocado
🌿 lots of fresh herbs
🍋 lemon + olive oil
Put it all on a plate.
Add something with protein. Add something with fiber. Add something delicious.
And call it dinner.
Because healthy eating isn't supposed to be punishment.
Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is eat a beautiful cold meal, drink some water, sit somewhere cool, and stop trying to be a hero. 😂
Summer is short.
Let's enjoy it. ❤️

Want one of the easiest nutrition upgrades you'll ever make? Paint your plate! 🌈 Mother Nature didn't create all those gorgeous colors just to make the produce aisle pretty. Every shade brings its own superstar nutrients—from the lycopene in juicy red tomatoes to the anthocyanins in blueberries and the beta-carotene in sweet potatoes. Think of every meal as an opportunity to collect a few more colors, not to mention flavors that are lush.
And here's a Fiberlish secret: don't be afraid of frozen-foods! Frozen fruits and vegetables are often picked at their peak of ripeness and frozen within hours, helping preserve both their flavor and many of their nutrients. They're washed, chopped, and ready to go, making healthy cooking faster, easier, and helping reduce food waste. Whether you're tossing tons of different berries into a smoothie, adding frozen chopped spinach to soup or eggs, or roasting frozen broccoli or squash for dinner, your freezer can be one of the healthiest spots in your kitchen.
So this week, challenge yourself to eat a rainbow—not just one color, but as many as you can. Your body, your taste buds, and even your grocery budget will thank you!
