Comment the word “diet” below and I’ll share my guide that helped me transition from an overweight insurance salesman in my late 20’s (with poor eating habits and regularly drinking) to how I look and feel now at 43. The guide has my daily diet, grocery list, supplements, and routines I adhere to 🙌

My V02 max was 63 when I tested it 10 years ago when I was competing in Ironman. I’m getting it tested again in a couple weeks, and curious to see what it is now. I was very aerobically fit then, but not as anaerobically fit as I am now. It’s my understanding that V02 max can be increased best by doing long aerobic sessions and short (3-8 minute) sessions at a very high intensity. That’s basically how I train now with CrossFit (high intensity) and aerobic biking: 1 - 4 hour rides. Will report back in July after testing!
I’m also taking @timelinenutrition (a supplement with studies showing improved V02 max in untrained 40-60 year olds taking Timelime vs a placebo group over a 4 month period. I’ve been taking @timelinenutrition for 4 months now, so curious to see if that has also helped in conjunction with my training.

Summer nights! Wasn’t much of a “stay at home / cook at home guy” until a few years ago (when all the restaurants were shut down 😂). Forced me to start cooking more, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed!
Nothing like treating good friends + loved ones to delicious, nourishing food! I typically have my largest meal at dinner, and build my calories throughout the day.
I feel more energized and have more mental clarity after small meals rather than large meals, so I save my large meal for the end of the day when I no longer wish to be uber productive.
Also, Blaze (our dog) likes steak night even more than any human - she gets the zoomies every time the steak comes off the smoker!

Strava says I’m getting fitter (2nd slide). I only question their algorithm when it decreases. Then I don’t believe it 💪
I think I was around 100 in their book during my Ironman years when I was logging 20+ hours of swimming, biking and running. I just started logging all my CrossFit workouts in Strava. Curious to see if that will get me back up towards 100, or if they heavily skew fitness based on running, biking and swimming.
I personally measure fitness based on how I feel. Not injured. Energized. Not massively overtrained. Well rounded - strong, explosive, mobile, aerobic, and anaerobic. 💪

The ultimate standing + floor sitting desk! @uppealdesign goes all the way down to a floor sitting position and up to 48”with the press of a button. I’m a huge fan + proponent of standing desks - I tend to move around more and stretch more often when standing or sitting on the floor. My body feels way better than when sitting in a chair. Shown here in bamboo (it’s stunningly beautiful craftsmanship). Dimensions: 48” x 30”. Code is HINMAN for $100 off if you’re in the market 🙌

I didn’t miss a party in my 20’s. I don’t miss a morning workout in my 40’s. I’ve always chased a feeling. Feeling good. Feeling energized. Feeling like I can be me with no apologies. I can distinctly remember some of the first CrossFit workouts I did back in 2010 and the high I felt afterwards. I can distinctly remember the high I felt after my first sprint distance triathlon.
My first half Ironman. My first Ironman. It’s the feeling that keeps me coming back for more. I find high intensity interval training to yield the biggest bang for my buck in the least amount of time. Short hard intervals, combined with heavy lifting, combined with single ingredient foods, combined with sleep. Rinse + repeat!

Big training week this week - 10 hours in the saddle and about the same in the gym. Leadville is 2 months out! Narrowly missed the CrossFit games, but next year I age up! Eventually, I’ll age my way into the big dance! For now, still really enjoying the process 💪

I typically watch YouTube in the evenings for about 45 minutes on this blue light free tablet from @daylightco. The 3 podcasts I’m tuning into most are “My First Million”, “Morning Brew Daily” and Rich Roll’s podcast. Send recs on your favs!!
This @daylightco tablet is like a kindle - it’s easy on the eyes, but has functionality similar to an iPad. Big fan of it, especially in the evenings.

@sleepycocoa cookies + brownies have natural sleep aid supplements in them! They’re soft and taste like they just came out of the oven, made with Ingredients that help promote restful sleep like L-Theanine, Chamomille Extract, Magnesium, and Inositol. I have a sweet tooth, so I enjoy having these occasionally as a dessert before bed!
