She unfortunately faced immense social ostracization and neglect in independent India.Azad's trusted revolutionary companions eventually brought her to Jhansi, where she spent her final years. She breathed her last in Jhansi on March 22, 1951, and her resting place is honored at the Bada Gaon Gate.
