Hey, I’m Benzi Pichhadze—Writer, Producer, Director, Editor, and Owner of PhiloNAL Productions. I create story-driven films and shows, often sci-fi, horror, thriller, and mystery.
I'm excited to share that my short horror film Take a Stab has been officially selected for the Open Film Zone Film Festival (OFZ)! 🔪🩸
it's especially exciting to see a film that a 100% of the footage was created using AI tools finding an audience and being recognized on the festival circuit.
A huge thank you to Open Film Zone for selecting the film and providing a platform that supports filmmakers from around the world.
I watched Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey today the way it was meant to be seen — true 70mm IMAX film projection — and I’m still buzzing. Calgary has one of only 40 theatres in the entire world capable of projecting this format, and I’ve been waiting a long time to experience it exactly as Nolan intended. Totally worth every second of the wait.
I’ve been a Christopher Nolan fan — no, a HUGE FAN — since Inception blew my mind back in 2010. Every film he’s made before and after has been pure genius in my book. His filmmaking is unique, bold, and endlessly inspiring. His personality — the kindness, politeness, humility — only makes me admire him more. And the partnership between him and his wife Emma Thomas has produced masterpiece after masterpiece, each one pushing the boundaries of cinema further than the last.
The Odyssey is no different. Honestly, it might be bigger. Words can’t describe the filmmaking effort behind this movie — the scale, the craft, the precision, the vision. There have been many adaptations of the Odyssey, but none come close to what Nolan achieved here. When I first heard he was tackling the epic poem that shaped storytelling across human history, I knew it was the perfect project for him. And I was right.
Seeing it in true 70mm IMAX — the full frame, the texture of film, the immersion — felt like witnessing cinema history. I’m so glad I waited to watch it this way. Nolan remains one of a kind, and forever an inspiration.
The ‘making-of’ video for Take a Stab — While every frame of the film was created using AI tools, the filmmaking process followed a traditional approach. The story, characters, directing choices, pacing, editing, and overall creative vision were crafted using the same principles that guide any film production.
This was my first time making a film like this. It pushed me, challenged me, and opened a new door in my filmmaking journey. I’m excited to share Take a Stab with you — and this is just the beginning.
