Yesterday I posted my first rehearsal, which was recorded with just my iPhone audio. Today I fired up the full home studio setup, so the audio quality is a BIG improvement.

I just posted some footage from my first rehearsal and first-ever run-through of the song.
It’s definitely not the finished version yet — that’s the point! I want to document this one from the very beginning and see how much it changes between the first attempt and the final recording.

Here’s a full run-through of “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away).” This one is pretty much ready to go — just need to sit down and record the final version.
And there’s a little history with this song…
I recorded it back in September 2024, and it was one of the first drum covers I ever filmed, recorded and posted. Going back and watching that version compared with where things are now is pretty wild.

A friend introduced me to Bruce Hornsby’s Hot House in 1997. I had no idea at the time that this album would become such an important part of my musical life.
Nearly 30 years later, it’s still in regular rotation. The entire record is incredible, but those final four songs have always been particularly special to me.
Tomorrow night I finally get to check Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers (along witg my ATF bass player - JV Collier) off my bucket list — and somehow I managed to score a single seat in the SECOND ROW, right in front of Bruce and one of my all-time favorite bass players, J.B. Collier. 😎
This morning I saw that “Hot House Ball” recently made its way back into the set…and that was all the inspiration I needed.
So I went downstairs, sat behind the kit and learned it. 🥁
Definitely a different feel than my normal playing — and it took me a minute to find the pocket — but man, what a fun song to play.
So Bruce…if you happen to be taking requests tomorrow night in Cleveland…
