Genre-bending riff-rock from Minneapolis, MN, turning darkness into light with passion and power. Midnight Notion is an accessible blend of ’70s Rock, ’80s Metal, ’90s Alternative, 2000s Pop-Punk, and a little bit of everything else in between. Using minimal equipment, they have become one of the most engaging live shows in the Twin Cities, providing witty stage banter, passionate performances, and full-room sing-alongs wherever they play.
Recommended if you like Sum 41, Foo Fighters, Breaking Benjamin, or Metallica.
This channel is dedicated to celebrating all things music--even the ugly behind-the-scenes stuff. You'll find multi-genre originals, covers, reviews, lessons, and the occasional rant about band life, all with Bryce's signature brand of passion, empathy, and sarcasm.

New channel alert! @overthink-d is where I’ll post my nerdy nostalgic millennial rabbit-hole ramblings, starting with this epic podrace video (and rock cover of “Duel of the Fates”). If you miss my face here on Midnight Notion and you like a little Star Wars lore, take a peek and SMASH THAT SUBSCRIBE BUTTON, or whatever the kids are saying these days. You rock 🤘

2016: The last time my acoustic drums saw the light of day. I played a one-off show with a cover band, packed them in their cases, put them in storage, then proceeded to only make time for the electric kit.
2026: The year they came out of storage, out of their cases, and made some new friends: a set of Remo Rototoms. Been learning a lot of RUSH lately 👀 for some reason 👀 and might end up bringing the ol’ kit back to the stage this year!

Remember that rock musical I said I was working on? Last night, my cast performed a preview—they had only 3 minutes to share a snippet of the show. This is the scene they chose. At this point of the story, Little Johnny has taken a bullet to the knee, so Marcia tries to convince the Town Hall attendees to agree to ban knees.
Enjoy this little sneak peak!

I've been working on a comedic rock musical for the last couple months! Here's a little sneak peek at one of the songs I wrote for it. And if you're near Minneapolis, you can see it live this August!

FOUR THOUSAND!? Wow! Thank you so much to all of you who have clicked that big red button—it means so much.
Three years ago, I was at about 100 subs, and decided to try reviewing some Metallica songs. I moved onto reviewing other genres after that, and you all kept lending your ideas and suggestions… I may not have as much time for filming and uploading anymore, but I haven’t quit altogether. I will return! And I hope you’ll return as well.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate, and remember: you rock! 🤘

My solo debut record, March to Midnight, is 10 years old today! Wow! Time flies! Happy birthday!
I know most of you came here and subscribed because of my Rocker Reviews, but the best way to support this channel is to stream my original music. Would you mind giving this record a spin or two today? It’s available for free streaming or paid download wherever you get your music online!
What else should we do to celebrate?

I have been working on a rock medley of songs from Super Mario Bros 3, and I am finding it much more difficult than my Mario 64 Medley from 2012. I need your help:
What are the songs you remember most from the game? There are so many songs that I will have to skip some, so what are the most important ones? Or, what are some of your favorite levels? Are there parts of the game you never conquered? If you ever played it, please tell me about your experience so I can factor it into how I finish this darn thing!

Today is my 37th birthday, and Midnight Notion’s 15th. I’m celebrating by traveling England and Wales, but I still have a birthday request from you: could you stream my original music and tell me which song and/or album you like best? It would mean the world to know which songs connect with which people.
Streaming preference: YouTube
Download preference: BandCamp
Honest preference: listen wherever is easiest for you!
