Hi Friends. I'm so very sorry I haven't been on my channel in years. Please accept my sincerest apologies. It was never intentional - I have had some major life changes, health issues, and other circumstances which caused me to step away from sewing and social media in general which was incredibly hard for me. I have not been on my Comicat channel/social/email in years. I had to step away from a lot of things to find inner peace and heal from a lot of things that have happened in my life.

I started drawing fashion illustrations a couple of years ago to try and get a creative outlet when I was no longer able to sew, and eventually started posting shorts on another channel (called MonikasMagicMarkers) to document my progress drawing. Turns out, people enjoyed it, which I wasn't expecting. I wish that I had shared that channel with you when I started posting regularly on it, but to be quite candid it was incredibly hard for me to revisit the past and this channel. I do regret that decision. Today, a comment came through on that channel from someone that said they'd been worried, so I found my login info so I could post on here. I never meant for anyone to worry and I wish I would have considered that, so please accept my sincerest apologies from the bottom of my heart.

Hey friends, long time no chat! I've taken some time offline the last couple of months but I've finally logged back on and I’m working on some new content! I've got a couple of new videos in the works I can't wait to show you, plus I've starting sharing some fall pics over on Instagram. First up for videos will be a fall fashion lookbook I should have posted within the next day, and then I'll have a sewing tutorial soon after! I’m sending love and prayers to anyone who has been affected by Hurricane Isaias 💕 We were fortunate to only get a lot of rain and minor storms where I am in NC but a lot of my state got hit badly, including areas very near and dear to my heart that I’ve shown in many of my summer sewing tutorials and summer lookbooks from the past few years. I’m heartbroken to hear of the damage, injury, and loss of life from this storm on the islands and up and down the east coast. I really hope you’re all safe and I’m praying for anyone having to go through the cleanup to remain safe during the pandemic.

Hi sewing friends! I want to say a huge THANK YOU because I hit 25,000 subscribers this week 😄 Y’all bring so much joy to my life so thank you for helping me reach this milestone!!! This picture was taken back in early March pre-lockdown but it perfectly represents how excited I am now! Hey everyone 💕 How are you all doing and feeling? I want to start by thanking you for the kind words on my last post - we have an incredible community that has shown me so much support over the years and I always want to do right by you. Secondly, I’d love to start a conversation on what we can all do going forward to make a positive impact for equality and justice.

One thing that has really resonated with me the past few days is that it’s not enough to simply not be racist, but that we have to actively be anti-racist. That we must do everything we can to speak up for others and to stand up for equality. I’ve always tried to do what I feel is right and I intend on implementing that value in every avenue of my life - including with the brands I support and promote.

I’ve also learned the importance of local elections. Voting in presidential elections has been very important to me but I’ve fallen short in researching and voting in local elections, which I’ve realized have a direct impact on the laws and justice system in our communities. Being able to vote is an amazing privilege and I will use that privilege. I plan to research and vote for people who will fight for justice and equality in the black community so that we can have a system that equally protects everyone, and I want to make sure to support people who will put important issues ahead of their own agendas. I think if everyone who is able to vote shows up we can make a difference!

There have been many lists circulating about places to donate that are making a difference and I’d love to hear some of your favorites. I hope you’re staying safe, healthy, and mentally well during these tough times and I’m praying for all of you!

I’ve on posted Instagram but I want to post on YouTube as well. Words are not coming easily to me but my tears have been plentiful. I’m praying for love, peace, safety, justice, and equality to prevail. I have been so blessed to have connected with people from all over the world here on YouTube to bond over our love of creativity and I firmly believe each and every one of you should be treated equally no matter what you look like, the color of your skin, where you’re from, or any other thing that makes you uniquely and beautifully you. I will always try to provide a positive space here on YouTube for everyone and I am praying with my whole heart that we can create the change that is desperately needed in this world.

I bought some beautiful floral knit fabrics from LA Finch Fabrics online (I’ll be filming a fabric haul this week to show you what I got) and it’s made me excited to sew some spring and summer clothes! I have some fun ideas but let me know - are there any warm weather styles you’re interested in seeing tutorials for? That way if any of your suggestions are things I’m thinking of making I will try and make them first!
