Hubby is home this week, so if you see me on more or less, I may not be able to stay long in live chats as I maybe going out more often. Hoping to get some more gardening done while I have extra help with our son. 🙏🏻
Last night my Night Blooming Cereus bloomed after 10:30pm by morning all blooms were spent. This is its third bloom cycle this summer into our fall season.
Not sure why some bloom once a year as people say but mine goes through a cycle and I get more than one blooming night per year.
My plant is 40 plus years old maybe even 50, I grew up looking at it as I would swim in my parents pool throughout the year.
It is considered The Night-Blooming Cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum, or “Queen of the Night” ) is an epiphytic jungle cactus famous for its large, fragrant white flowers that open for a single night, (not one blooming per year, but these open for only one night and wilt the next morning). The common name Queen of the Night has been given to many night blooming Cacti so if you want this particular plant look up the Latin name above. The flowers are like dinner plate size when fully open and sweetly fragrant.

Speaking of burnout @BigWillDogg82inthesoil @CrocGardener in the garden, I went back to one of my favorite food planters this am because of your live.
It takes sometimes going back to who or what inspired the beginning of our gardening and growing adventure, for me it was DTG’s islands or rows of fertility and food in the ground (Grocery Row Gardening). I have to have it a bit more controlled within an HOA, but his example at the end of his video of his friend in analysis paralysis.
Thanks for the reminder, and thanks to @shawneegrows who reminded me where I started by her new DTG school adventure. ❤️🥰

Today’s harvest was small but beautiful 💚 Fresh #ButterflyPeaFlowers, a #DwarfBanana flower, sweet #MeiwaKumquats, and some extra plump #BarbadosCherry from the garden. I also tried a local #DragonFruit (not homegrown), and while it had more flavor than most, #YellowDragonFruit is still my favorite.
No #HerbHarvest today because I was busy working in the garden, filling one of my white beds and getting my #GiantTaro (elephant ears) planted. I also relocated my #NativePlants coral honeysuckle and paired it with a pink mandevilla to give it a little support while it recovers. #FloridaGarden #Zone10b #TropicalGarden #GardenLife
