The Supreme Court said constitutional safeguards cannot be set aside because a person is accused of a serious offence.
It held that the grounds of arrest must be given to an arrested person in writing and in a language they understand, including in cases involving special laws such as the UAPA.

Dinesh Thakkar, founder, chairman and managing director of Angel One, has agreed to buy an entire residential tower at Embassy Developments’ ultra-luxury project Embassy Terazza in Mumbai’s Juhu for approximately ₹711 crore.
Embassy Developments Limited said on Tuesday that it had signed a MoU with Thakkar for the sale of the tower. The company described the transaction as the largest single residential unit transaction in the country.

Search engine major Google will also start sharing details of child sexual abuse cases and repeat offenders with the cybercrime division of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, sources told Business Standard.
Google follows in Meta India’s footsteps, which has also agreed to start reporting details of child sexual abuse material cases as well as other details of repeat offenders in such cases.

The resolution to reappoint N Chandrasekaran chairman of Tata Sons for a third term was not validly passed at the September 17 board meeting, said Tata Trusts on Sunday, arguing that the affirmative support required from its nominee directors under the company’s AoA was not secured.
Tata Trusts also invoked the Supreme Court proceedings arising from the removal of Cyrus Mistry as Tata Sons chairman in 2016, arguing that Tata Sons had itself defended the affirmative voting rights of the Trusts’ nominee directors in that case and could not now disown the protections it had successfully fought to preserve.

Pakistani fighter jets carried out airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan on Monday (local time), targeting what Pakistani security officials described as "militant hideouts". Pakistan said 28 suspected "militants" were killed in the strikes, while Afghan authorities said three civilians died and four others were injured, Associated Press reported.
The strikes took place in Kunar and Paktika provinces, close to the Pakistan border, The Washington Post reported.
