Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

You can know someone was wrong for you and still grieve that they did not choose you.

You can thank God for the clarity and still feel the sting of rejection. You may be grieving the future you imagined, the promises you believed, and the version of that person you kept hoping would show up.

Please don’t let “say amen and move on” become another demand to silence your heart.

Discernment can tell you to leave. Grief may need more time to catch up. God can hold you through both.

Their inability to love you well is not a verdict on your worth.

Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

There is something deeply broken about a world where the harmed person is so often the one required to survive the trauma, explain it, prove it, endure the questions, and keep speaking until somebody finally listens.

We ask survivors why they waited.
Why they froze.
Why they stayed quiet.

Maybe, the better question is: why have we built systems that make disclosure feel more dangerous than silence?

This is part of why I chose to heal out loud.

When I began speaking about what happened to me, people asked if I was embarrassed and why not. Some said they could never tell their story because of the shame, but I had already lived with the shame. I had already carried what silence was doing to me and barely survived it.

So I spoke, not because it was easy but because I was no longer willing to hide what someone else did to me that is why I will never ask a survivor, “Why didn’t you say something sooner?”

I know what it can cost to speak and I also know what it can cost not to.

“Open your mouth for the speechless.” Proverbs 31:8

There comes a point when you realize you are explaining your pain to someone committed to misunderstanding it.

So you try again. You choose gentler words. You bring examples, dates, screenshots. You hope that if you can make them understand what happened, they will finally care that it hurt you.

For many survivors of narcissistic abuse, that conversation becomes its own kind of exhaustion. Your body braces before you speak because it has learned how quickly the truth can be turned back on you.

You are allowed to stop pleading your case.

God sees what happened, including the parts you cannot prove to anyone else. You can tell the truth, tend to your nervous system, and let someone else’s refusal to understand remain theirs.

Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

When you have survived narcissistic abuse, “everything” can mean more than what was taken from you.

It can mean your sense of safety. Your trust in your own memory. The ability to rest without waiting for the next argument, accusation, or sudden change in someone’s mood.

Even after you leave, your nervous system may still respond as though you are in danger. A racing heart does not mean you lack faith. Needing time to feel safe again does not mean you have failed to heal.

Job’s losses were real, and Scripture makes room for his grief. It does not ask him to call devastation a blessing before he has even had a chance to weep.

“The enemy thought he had taken everything from Job. But Job’s everything was God.”

Hold that gently. God’s presence does not erase what happened to you. It means you do not have to pretend you are unhurt to be held by Him. Even as your body learns what safety feels like again, He is near.

Being a “good woman” should not require you to disappear.

I’ve seen the post saying the reward for being a “good woman” is an autoimmune disease. I understand why it resonates. Many women have spent years managing someone else’s moods, swallowing their own needs, and calling it love.

Chronic stress can affect the body but, we cannot say that people pleasing causes autoimmune disease, or blame a woman for becoming ill.

What we can ask is why self-abandonment is so often praised as goodness.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” - Proverbs 4:23

Guarding your heart does not mean becoming bitter, cruel, or unwilling to love. It means learning to discern what is happening in a relationship. It means noticing when keeping the peace consistently costs you your voice, your safety, or your sense of self.

For some, people pleasing began as a way to survive. There is no shame in that but, survival patterns do not have to become the standard for how you live and love.

You can remain kind and still tell the truth. You can care deeply and still say no. You can forgive someone without giving them continued access to harm you.

Your heart is worth guarding.

Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

Sometimes the church does not know what to do with a grieving person’s honesty. We hear someone speak from a place of deep pain, and the response is, “Where is your faith?” or “You’re making a mountain out of a molehill.” As if grief must sound composed before it can be heard.

But listen to Naomi in Ruth 1:13b:

“Things are far more bitter for me than for you, because the Lord himself has raised his fist against me.”

That is how devastating her life felt to her. Scripture lets her say it. We do not see God scold Naomi for those words or demand that she soften them before He continues to work in her life.

Naomi could not yet see what God would do next. Her pain was real, even though it was not the end of her story.

If you are wounded and your words come out raw, that is not an indictment of your faith or your character. You do not have to make your grief sound pretty to be worthy of compassion.

Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

Welcome home.

Not to a place…

To yourself.

The woman who started this journey would hardly recognize the woman standing here today.

She no longer introduces herself by her trauma.

She no longer negotiates with what God told her to release.

She no longer waits at baggage claim hoping someone will return what heaven already replaced.

She knows who she is.

She knows whose she is.

She knows where she’s going.

That is what healing does.

It doesn’t erase your story.

It redeems it.

You didn’t travel all this way just to become a better version of who you were.

You traveled to become who God always intended you to be.

Whole.

Healed.

Grounded.

Disciplined.

Free.

This wasn’t a journey back to your old life.

It was a journey back to the woman God created before pain convinced you to become someone else.

So smile.

Take the picture.

Celebrate the progress.

Thank God for every closed door, every gate change, every season of turbulence, and every step of obedience that brought you here.

You made it.

Now don’t unpack what God told you to leave behind.

Don’t revisit gates He closed.

Don’t rebuild what He dismantled.

Don’t become a stranger to the woman you fought so hard to become.

🩷 Travel Advisory: Healing isn’t the destination.

Living as the healed version of yourself is.

Welcome home.

Govern yourself accordingly.

You made it.

Not because the journey was easy.

Not because there was no turbulence.

Not because you never questioned yourself.

You made it because you kept saying “yes” to God.

You left the baggage behind.

You surrendered the old identity.

You released what couldn’t go with you.

You trusted the reroute.

You boarded when your name was called.

You stayed seated through the turbulence.

And now…

You’ve arrived.

Here’s what I’ve learned…

Wholeness isn’t a place where life suddenly becomes perfect.

It’s the place where your peace is no longer dependent on your circumstances.

You stop chasing what God removed.

You stop mourning what no longer fits.

You stop introducing yourself by your wounds.

You stop living from survival.

You start walking in purpose.

This wasn’t just a journey to a new destination.

It was a journey to a new you.

Now hear me…

Don’t unpack the baggage God told you to leave behind.

Don’t return to gates He closed.

Don’t chase flights He never booked.

Keep walking.

There are still lives attached to your obedience.

🩷 Travel Advisory: Arrival isn’t the end of the journey. It’s the beginning of your assignment.

Welcome to wholeness.

Now go build what God brought you here to build.

Govern yourself accordingly.

You’ve left the baggage behind.

You’ve surrendered the old identity.

You’ve passed security.

You’ve trusted the gate change.

You’ve boarded the plane.

Now…

The seatbelt sign comes on.

The plane begins to shake.

And suddenly you start wondering if you heard God correctly.

But hear me carefully…

Turbulence is not proof you’re on the wrong flight.

It’s proof you’re in the air.

No pilot turns the plane around because of turbulence.

They stay the course.

Why?

Because they know what’s waiting on the other side of the storm.

So does God.

Don’t confuse discomfort with danger.

Don’t confuse pressure with punishment.

Don’t confuse resistance with rejection.

The enemy wants you to panic.

God is calling you to trust the Pilot.

Keep your seatbelt fastened.

Stay grounded in His Word.

Pray instead of panic.

Worship instead of worry.

Be still instead of becoming impulsive.

The shaking isn’t the destination.

It’s part of the journey.

🩷 Travel Advisory: Don’t make permanent decisions in temporary turbulence.

Your destination hasn’t changed.

God is still in control.

Govern yourself accordingly.

Pink Girl Teaches | Nervous System & Healing

For years, I have shown up here and encouraged you to listen to your body, honor your capacity, rest without guilt, and refuse to abandon yourself in the name of keeping everything and everyone else going.

Now I have to practice what I teach.

Over the past several weeks, I have been navigating a significant and unexpected health situation that has changed my day-to-day life in ways I wasn’t prepared for. I am still searching for answers and determining what the road forward looks like.

So, for a season, I am stepping away from Pink Girl Teaches. And before I do, I need to pause and honor what these years have meant to me.

Look at what God allowed us to build.

From the REBUILD Conference to workshops and retreats, we created spaces where survivors could come together, learn, heal, worship, laugh, cry, and begin imagining life beyond narcissistic abuse.

I wrote books and created journals, resources, and the PGT Academy because I never wanted to simply tell people to heal. I wanted to put practical tools in their hands to help them do the work of rebuilding.

We gathered around microphones for podcasts and around the Word of God through When Queens Convene Bible Study. And then there was The Healing Lounge, a space created intentionally for community, connection, safety, and the conversations that sometimes could only happen among people who understood.

Through all of it, we talked about the things people often suffer through silently and the long, sometimes messy work of finding yourself again after survival.

But PGT became more than content, events, books, programs, or resources.

We became a community.

We built a safe place where women and some incredible gentlemen could finally exhale and realize, I am not crazy. I am not alone. Someone understands and some of the bonds formed through this community will, I believe, last a lifetime.

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve you and walk alongside you.

I don’t take lightly that you trusted me with some of the most painful chapters of your stories. I don’t take lightly every testimony, every message, every hug, every person who traveled to sit in a room with us, every person who logged on from somewhere in the world, or every person who took something I taught and used it to lay another brick in their rebuilding.

Pink Girl Teaches has always been about Building Bridges to REBUILD Lives After Narcissistic Abuse and my goodness… we built.

Which is why I can step away for this season knowing that what we built does not disappear because I need to rest.

I don’t have a return date, and I am intentionally not giving myself one, I need the freedom to focus on my health, get the answers I need, and establish a new rhythm and yes, The Road Back to Me is still coming.

I will complete the book. The assignment to write it has not changed. The book will become available when it is ready, but I have decided to postpone the official launch and everything that would require me to publicly promote it until my health and capacity allow.

The irony of that is not lost on me. I am writing The Road Back to Me while having to find my own road back to myself in a way I never anticipated.

Maybe there are seasons when God allows us to teach from what we’ve survived, and maybe there are seasons when He asks us to become a student of the very things we’ve been teaching.

This is one of those seasons for me.

So I’m going to practice what I’ve taught, take care of Joy, and let God meet me here.

This isn’t goodbye. It’s see you later.

Because sometimes the Road Back to Me requires actually taking the road.

“A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation. I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.”
Isaiah 60:22 NKJV
