You may have heard that Amazon KDP has introduced a new limit on how many titles we can create.
Previously, the stated limit was 10 new titles per book format each week. KDP’s updated guidelines now say that we can create two per book format each week.
This does not appear to mean two books altogether. Paperback, hardcover and ebook are separate formats, so you could still create up to two of each in a week.
I know this will frustrate people who are used to uploading books in large batches, but I actually see it as a positive change.
Amazon has been flooded with books that have been created and uploaded very quickly. Some have had very little research, planning or quality control behind them.
If this change slows that down, our carefully created books may have a better chance of being noticed.
I personally take more than a week to create any book, even a simple one, and I still earn a full-time income from publishing. You do not need to publish large numbers of books to build a successful business. A strong idea, a good-quality book and effective marketing matter far more than how quickly you can upload.
This new limit also gives us a good reason to spend more time on: • Researching the idea • Improving the cover and interior • Checking everything carefully • Planning a series • Marketing the books we already have
Amazon has not promised that the change will improve visibility, of course. But fewer rushed and repetitive books entering the marketplace could give better-quality books a fairer chance.
So please do not panic. For most of us, two books per format each week still gives us plenty of room to grow our catalogues.
I’m interested to know what you think. Do you see this as a restriction, or could it be good news for careful publishers like us?
🐱 Meet Tina the Cosy Cat! She's my newest colouring book, she's live on Amazon now, and I've made a video about how I created her, from the first idea all the way to publishing and promoting her. I'm treating the whole thing as a case study, so you can see how I really work and use it for your own books. 👉 Watch it here: https://youtu.be/OysTUAr6OiI Have you watched it yet? So many of the publishers I work with start out convinced they are not good enough, not ready, or not far enough along. And yet when I look at what they have actually created, I see something completely different.
Brave. Worthy. Enough.
You never know who needs the books you create. Keep going. 🌺
So many of you are in the early stages of your book or your business, and it can feel like nothing is happening yet. But it is. Every small step counts. Every push matters.
Have you noticed KDP has had a bit of a tidy up lately?
A couple of quiet but genuinely useful changes have appeared in the dashboard over the past little while, and I wanted to flag them in case you missed them.
The first is the Rights & Pricing page. If you've ever found that section a bit cluttered and hard to read (you're not alone), it's had a clean-up. The layout is clearer now, which makes going through your pricing options feel a lot less overwhelming, especially if you're setting up in multiple territories.
The second is one I think a lot of you will find handy. You can now download your latest cover and manuscript directly from the KDP dashboard, without having to dig through old folders or contact support to track down a file. It's right there when you need it.
Neither of these changes is going to transform your publishing business overnight, but small improvements to the workflow do add up. Anything that saves you time or a support ticket is worth knowing about.
Have you spotted any other recent changes in KDP that you've found useful?
As a thank you for following along here, for your kind comments, for the shares, and for being part of this community and always supporting me. It means more to me than you know. ❤️
You know when you're sitting there thinking: "What book should I create?" I hear that all the time and I've asked myself the same thing more times than I can count.
My answer has always been the same: write about something you know, something you're passionate about, or something you're curious about and want to explore. The best books come from that place.
But I wanted to make it easier for you to go from that idea to something you can start working on: so I created the Book Idea Generator.
You type in a topic and it gives you six niche book ideas you could actually publish. Children's books, low-content books, non-fiction guides, or a mix of all three. It takes about thirty seconds and it's completely free.
💻 For the best experience, open it on a desktop browser. It runs on Claude, but you can use it with a free account.
Hope you find it helpful, I've already found a few ideas that I'm starting to work with. And if you're trying it, let me know. Would love to see what we're all cooking up next! 😄

The Home Boss
I just spent far too long deciding whether to start an email with “Hi” or “Hey.”
And it made me think of self-publishing.
Because this is exactly what happens when we care about something.
We overthink the tiny things.
The cover.
The subtitle.
The wording.
The categories.
The keywords.
The “what if I get it wrong?” moments.
But sometimes the tiny decisions become a hiding place.
They make us feel busy, but they don’t move us forward.
Your book does not need to be perfect before you publish it.
It needs to be clear.
It needs to be useful.
It needs to be finished.
You can improve as you go.
You can learn from the next book.
You can tweak things later.
But you cannot build confidence from a book that stays unpublished forever.
So today’s reminder is simple:
Stop overthinking the “Hi.”
Take the next step with your book.

This quote really spoke to me today:
PUSH — Persist Until Something Happens.
So many of you are in the early stages of your book or your business, and it can feel like nothing is happening yet. But it is. Every small step counts. Every push matters.
Stay with it. Your “something” is on its way.

Spring always feels like a new chapter.
A chance to start fresh.
To create something new.
To finally begin that idea you’ve been thinking about.
Wishing you a happy Easter.
