CherisHer™
The recent news about NHS maternity care has brought much-needed attention to issues that many Black women have been speaking about for years.
For years, Black women in the UK have experienced significantly poorer maternity outcomes and have shared their concerns about feeling unheard, dismissed, or having to work harder to advocate for themselves.
Their voices deserved to be heard long before this moment.
If you are a Black woman navigating pregnancy right now, I want you to know this:
🤎 Learn about your rights.
🤎 Know the organisations that exist to support you.
🤎 Remember that you are not alone.
Helpful organisations:
• Five X More – fivexmore.co.uk
• Birthrights – birthrights.org.uk
• MBRRACE-UK – npeu.ox.ac.uk/mbrrace-uk
CherisHer Birth Rhythms was created with Black women in mind.
For the women who have walked into maternity appointments already carrying the weight of the statistics.
For the women who have felt they needed to advocate more strongly to be heard.
For the women who deserve care that is safe, compassionate, and equitable.
This channel is here to offer encouragement, calm, reflection, and support throughout your journey.
You are seen.
You are valued.
You are not alone. 🤎
