I was saddened to hear about the passing of Matt “Wags” Wagner.

For so many of us in the DCS community, Wags was the most familiar face and voice behind DCS World. Whether it was a new aircraft, a major feature, or one of his countless tutorial and preview videos, hearing “Hey everyone, Wags here from Eagle Dynamics” usually meant something exciting was coming.

His work helped introduce countless people to DCS and taught many of us how to fly aircraft that seemed impossibly complicated when we first climbed into the cockpit.

Whatever aircraft you fly, however long you’ve been part of this community, Wags had an impact on the hobby we all enjoy.

Blue skies and tailwinds, Wags.

You will be missed.

500 SUBSCRIBERS! 🎉

Well...we did it. 500 subscribers!

When I started GenX Dad, I really wasn't sure where this was going to go. I just wanted a place to talk about the things I enjoy, flight sims, DCS, gaming, aviation and hopefully help a few people along the way.

What I didn't expect was the community that's started to form around it.

I've loved reading your stories about growing up with everything from Commodore 64s and Amigas to Falcon, Jane's and Microsoft Flight Simulator. I've enjoyed hearing from brand new DCS pilots taking their first flights, experienced simmers sharing what they've learned, and even real world aviators offering their perspectives.

And somehow, 500 of you have decided to come along for the ride.

Thank you for every view, like, comment, subscription, suggestion, correction and story you've shared. You guys have made creating this channel a lot more fun than I ever expected it to be.

We've got plenty more coming more DCS tutorials, Liberation, Mission Editor guides, campaigns, aviation, and of course the occasional trip back to the games we grew up with.

Next stop: 1,000. 😎

Just got back from a work trip and saw that we passed 400 subscribers.

You guys are awesome!

Thank you for every view, comment, suggestion, and story you've shared. One of the best parts of this journey has been reading about how all of you got into flight simulation and watching this community grow.

We've got a lot more tutorials, mission editor content, campaigns, and probably a little GenX nostalgia coming soon.

Woke up this morning and saw we hit 300 subscribers in less than a week and that's honestly incredible.

Whether you came here for DCS tutorials, retro gaming, or just to share your own flight sim story, thank you for being part of this community.

One of the best parts of this journey has been reading your comments and hearing how all of you got into flight simulation. It's been amazing to see so many different paths lead us to the same hobby.

When I started GenX Dad, I honestly had no idea if anyone would want to hear me ramble about DCS, 90s gaming, FMV games, and all the other random things I enjoy.

Yet here we are.

Thank you to everyone who's watched a video, left a comment, shared your own stories, or subscribed. One of my favorite parts of this journey has been reading your comments from people just discovering DCS to lifelong flight sim veterans, and fellow GenX gamers reminiscing about the games we grew up with.

I'm just getting started, and I've got a lot more tutorials, retrospectives, and mission-making content planned.

A few months ago, I started GenX Dad with a simple idea: talk about the things I enjoy DCS, retro gaming, flight sims, and all the other stuff that made growing up in the Gen X era so much fun.

Today, we hit 100 subscribers.

I know 100 might not sound like much compared to the giant channels out there, but to me it's incredible. That's 100 people who decided my content was worth watching and worth coming back for.

Whether you've been here since the first videos, found the channel through a DCS tutorial, stopped by for my retro gaming content, or just found me through the algorithm, thank you. Your views, likes, comments, and feedback have made this journey a lot more rewarding than I ever expected.

This is just the beginning. I've got plenty more DCS tutorials, stories, retro gaming discussions, and flight sim content planned for the future.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures out there.

Whether you're teaching your kids how to ride a bike, introducing them to your favorite old-school games, helping with homework, grilling in the backyard, or just doing your best every day, you matter more than you know.

Generation X had the unique experience of growing up without the internet and had a front row seat watching technology transform the world. Now, as fathers, we try to pass along the best parts of that experience to our kids.

Today, take a moment to enjoy your family, make some memories, and maybe sneak in a little gaming or flight sim time if you can.
