Title: F1® Manager 2024
Completion time: 10 hours

F1 Manager 2024’s central concept puts you in the team principal’s seat, juggling car development, driver contracts and pit strategy across a full season. The depth is the main draw, and the race sim does a great job of turning your decisions into real drama on track.

It can get very technical and very in the weeds, which is great if you love that sort of thing. However, I personally rather not work outside of work hours, so the spreadsheet-style management sometimes felt a bit like a second job.

Race days are where the game shines, with live strategy calls, tyre management and actual in-seat driving keeps things tense. They were a welcome payoff for all the menu time, and they make the F1 fantasy feel real.

The platinum was easy enough with a guide, and a nice, low-stress way to keep my momentum going with another easier sports title. Overall, it’s a rewarding sim for F1 fans and management lovers, and a painless platinum for trophy hunters.

Title: The Plucky Squire
Completion time: 12 hours

The Plucky Squire's central concept revolves around a storybook hero who can leap off the page and into the real world, is unique and clearly well thought out. Rather than treating the 2d/ 3d shift as a gimmick, the game builds its puzzles, pacing and sense of wonder around it.

Visually, I found myself preferring the 2d storybook sections to the 3d ones. The hand-drawn pages have so much charm and personality, whereas the 3d world felt a bit lifeless by comparison.

The gameplay stays fresh thanks to the unique minigames tied to each member of the Mojam crew. They were a fun change of pace just as things were starting to feel a little stale, and they gave each character a distinct identity.

Collectables were refreshingly low-hassle too, though I'm still not sure what collecting all the glitchbirds actually does? Overall, it's a charming, inventive adventure that I'd happily recommend.

Title: 007 First Light
Completion time: 24 hours

007 First Light delivers a strong Bond experience with a campaign that feels well-paced from start to finish, striking a good balance between action, stealth, and cinematic storytelling. The chapter select system is a standout feature, making post-game collectible clean-up straightforward. With the help of a guide, it was easy to jump back into specific sections without having to replay lengthy missions, making the road to 100% completion far less tedious.

Outside of the main story, the Tac-Sim missions add some replay ability, but they don't offer much incentive beyond earning the associated trophies, which can be unlocked fairly quickly. Driving is another minor weak point, with the vehicles feeling a little sluggish and lacking responsiveness. Fortunately, these sections are used sparingly, so they never become a major issue.

Overall, 007 First Light is an enjoyable adventure that's easy to recommend, especially for fans looking for a polished single-player action game.

Title: LEGO® STAR WARS™ The Force Awakens
Completion time: 25 hours

Another day, another LEGO game platinum.

This felt like a litmus test for what would eventually become LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The more modern gameplay works really well here, and thankfully it skips the annoying in-level challenge objectives that drag Skywalker sagas enjoyment down.

The additional side missions were a nice surprise too. They padded out what would have otherwise been a fairly short game while expanding on events between scenes from the film, adding some fun extra lore for Star Wars fans.

And, of course... lots of new glup shittos.

A solid LEGO adventure and an enjoyable platinum from start to finish.

Title: MLB® The Show™ 24
Completion time: x hours

My first-ever Platinum from a mainline sports franchise! 🏆

I usually avoid sports games because of the dreaded online trophies that become nearly impossible to earn once the player base dwindles or the servers inevitably go offline. To my surprise, MLB The Show 24 has none of that, making it a fantastic sports platinum for casual trophy hunters.

There are a couple of RNG-based trophies and only one that requires a bit of a grind. The rest are straightforward, especially with the help of the in-game sliders.

MLB The Show 24, you've restored my faith in sports games... for now. âšľ

Title: Ghost of YĹŤtei
Completion time: 51 hours

Ghost of YĹŤtei largely sticks to the formula established by its predecessor, offering a familiar blend of open-world exploration, cinematic storytelling, and swordplay. While the addition of new weapons introduces some welcome variety and creates a handful of interesting combat scenarios, the katana remains the most versatile and effective choice throughout much of the adventure, making it difficult to fully embrace the expanded arsenal.

Unfortunately, the game struggles to surprise elsewhere. The central narrative becomes predictable well before its conclusion, reducing the impact of its final moments. Mission design also feels repetitive over time, with limited variety across the campaign. More diverse objectives such as horseback archery challenges or stealth-focused tailing missions could have helped break up the routine and injected greater excitement into the overall experience.

Title: The LEGO® Movie Videogame
Completion time: x hours

Everything is in fact NOT awesome...

If you’ve followed my reviews for a while, you’ll know I’ve played plenty of LEGO titles - enough to know what the series is capable of. That’s why The LEGO Movie Videogame feels so underwhelming.

Despite being based on the wildly creative movie of the same name, this 12-year-old movie tie-in lacks basic feature parity with other entries in the franchise. There’s no proper level select hub, no sub-chapter selection for cleaning up collectibles, and several frustrating, game-breaking bugs that disrupt progression.

What’s left is a surprisingly barebones experience: uninspired levels, simplistic puzzles, and a gameplay loop that grows stale far too quickly. While it captures some of the film’s charm through voice lines and faithful environments, it ultimately feels stripped back and poorly polished compared to stronger LEGO games.

Title: The Wolf Among Us
Completion time: x hours

Revisiting The Wolf Among Us for a second time only reinforced how exceptional its storyline really is. The gritty reimagining of the fables universe, the sharp dialogue, and the constant moral tension make it one of Telltale Games’ strongest works. It left me more eager than ever for The Wolf Among Us 2 (if it ever comes out), especially with so many unresolved threads and room for Bigby’s story to evolve.

While newer narrative-driven titles like Dispatch help scratch that choice-based itch, there’s still nothing quite like the atmosphere and direction this game delivered. Telltale were onto something genuinely special here and I can only hope the sequel builds on that foundation rather than losing what made the original so memorable.

Title: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Completion time: x hours

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a title that passed me by in its original release, but thanks to its modern remaster, I finally had the chance to experience it with fresh eyes.

The game’s vehicular combat is a clear highlight, capturing the chaotic, large-scale battles typical of its era and standing as its most enjoyable component. On-foot combat, however, is noticeably weaker; despite Pandemic’s pedigree with the Battlefront series, that expertise doesn’t fully carry over here. That said, with so little time spent playing as a Jedi, this shortcoming rarely undermines the overall experience.

Some challenging boss battles and the side missions made it a well rounded experience and rather enjoyable overall.

Title: Goat Simulator 3
Completion time: x hours

Goat Simulator 3 is a confident evolution of the original, expanding its open world and doubling down on inventive Easter eggs while preserving the series’ familiar, accessible mechanics.

However, its main shortcoming lies in the trinkets, ramps, and the instinct system, which rely heavily on uninspired collectibles. Rather than rewarding exploration, these elements often feel like padding, adding little satisfaction to an otherwise entertaining experience.
