Hey y'all! Sorry for anyone who's caught up on The Takeoff and has been waiting two weeks for the newest episode...cutting together a "Top 25 Parkour Videos Ever" roundtable review with David Ehrlich and Egg and it's been a bit more time consuming than anticipated.
That should drop later this week and then I'm hoping to get my "Ultimate Precision Guide" video out! Hope you're all ready for 45+ minutes of incredible nerdiness on precision technique haha
Hey y'all - some of you may have noticed I temporarily removed the recent podcast episode on parkour history with Callum Powell.
I wanted to give the community some space to process recent events while figuring out how/if I can rewrite the description in a way that acknowledges his disgusting criminal behavior while still accepting that there is no way to erase his now-complicated legacy in the development of our sport's culture and practice.
Felt the need to share that information since I had a few folks reach out concerned that it was part of an attempt to whitewash his involvement in the scene. I don't think that's the answer but it seemed appropriate to give people who are hurting right now time and space to process before trying to figure out what the correct long-term approach to resolving this will be.
I'll be sharing this week's episode with Camila Stefaniu on Thursday and should have a few movement videos for you as well soon - I've been dealing with a light but nagging hip strain and trying to actually allow it to heal...a constant struggle for us ADHD parkour athletes who love training.
Thank you all for your continued support and thank you to everyone who has gotten in touch with me to check in after a long weekend of incredibly difficult revelations.
As I've gotten a bit older I've tried to add more cardio into my training routine...but balancing parkour, lifting, and trail runs started to take its toll. Enter Alec Blenis...lol
In this episode, I dig into some simple protocols for implementing more cardio without exhausting your body and cutting into parkour time (among many other things). Hope you guys enjoy this one! And out of curiosity - are y'all into running at all too or is it a heck no?
The Takeoff is back with an episode about community building featuring Ruby Romero of The Movement Creative!
Excited to get back into the swing of things this week - working on a 2025 USA Parkour Awards video for later this week and also hoping to film the "trying every subgenre of parkour" vid y'all voted on two weeks ago :)
Working on a few interesting video concepts right now and curious which of these you guys would like to see next! Trying to balance out all the podcasting with some actual training content haha
I got an epic day of jump training in last month with the StrengthSide guys - including a nice little standing pre at height - and the video is finally out!
Honestly, it's really refreshing to see athletes like Trevor and Josh look to parkour for skill and strength development...and I was happy to help them bump their broad jump distance quite a bit with some straightforward programming too.
Check out the video to see the program I gave them and catch some other solid techy tips for improving jump output and control :)
If you haven't seen this yet you need to check it out!
Got to work on the first all-women's parkour film last summer with eight amazingly talented athletes. What they were able to create together was such a perfect representation of parkour and we can't wait to share it with you!
