After a night ride in Japan, we’re going back to Germany 🇩🇪 for our train trip report this week.

For decades, these coaches carried Deutsche Bahn InterCity passengers across Germany. Today, they’re dressed in FlixTrain’s flashy green 🟢


FlixTrain, the low-cost German train, has upgraded its service with “COMFORT”: adjustable seats with more legroom, fully air-conditioned trains, compartments for small groups, luggage racks between the seats...


These cars are also the bridge to FlixTrain’s future carriages...

One by one, they disappeared from the timetables: the Twilight Express, the Hokutosei, the Cassiopeia…

Today, only one regular night train is left 🌙 Even though a few night trains still run from time to time, or luxury cruise trains...

This week, we board Japan's last regular night train, the Sunrise Express 🇯🇵🚆

Picture dump of the journey number 1 Milan 🇮🇹 -> Brussels 🇧🇪 with ‪@europeansleepernightrain‬

This new night train launched 9 September runs three times a week between Milano Porta Garibaldi and Brussels-Midi, via Como, the Gotthard line in Switzerland, and Germany.

It also marks the revival of an old service: a direct Brussels–Milan night train, that disappeared for almost 24 years.
