✨ Top 5 Things Mei Want to Do This Winter ✨
💕 1. Get a kotatsu (heated table) for her home
"I really want to try enjoying oranges while sitting at a kotatsu again! The last time I did that was at my mom' house. At home, I’d always be wrapped up under the kotatsu with the cat we had at the time, and my mom would bring me some oranges. Basically, my family always gathered in the living room, and having a kotatsu encouraged us to spend even more time there. That place feels warm both because of the temperature and the memories we’ve created there.”
💕 2. Skiing
“I occasionally skied since I was little, but after leaving my mom' home, I haven’t had many opportunities to go myself. This winter, I want to enjoy skiing. I have my own skis, boots, and ski wear, so I’m prepared, all that’s left is to go. I have a pink-patterned outfit originally, and I bought a basic khaki and black one two years ago. If I were to buy something this year, I’d be interested in cool colors like blue or green.
I have tried snowboarding before, but it was difficult. I thought since I do surfing, I would be able to snowboard easily, but I was afraid because my feet were strapped to the board, so skiing would be my choice next time.”
💕 3. Part-time Job
“Originally, I was planning to do it in the summer. I wanted to try working part-time at a restaurant owned by an acquaintance. That place is more like a snack bar, where they serve drinks and such...Sounds fun! It's my dream. I haven’t had any part-time job experience, and since I started working at an early age, I don’t think it’s wrong to have lived without doing part-time work. However, since most people have part-time job experience, I would like to try it. I'm attracted to the idea of working at the register. I’ve always wanted to be a cashier at a supermarket. I hope to make it happen by the end of this year (laughs).”
💕 4. Cleaning the Sofa
“The sofa is a place where you always sit, right? So, I've always thought about cleaning it, but since it's a bit of a hassle, I've been putting it off and pretending not to notice. But winter is the time to do it! To enjoy being wrapped in a blanket and feeling comfortable, I want to clean it. The sofa at my house is fabric and deep, with each part differing in color, pattern, and material.
Depending on where I sit, I can feel happy or relaxed. Sometimes, sitting in a lively spot can make me a little tired. Of course, I usually have a regular spot, but surprisingly, the place I sit often changes based on my mood. I enjoy discovering such things.”
💕 5. Piano Tuning
“The piano at home is a bit out of tune right now. I think I should get it tuned soon. I played the piano in the movie And Then the Baton Was Passed, and since then, I’ve become really into it.
In winter, there are a lot of events like Christmas and New Year's, I often play the piano when we gather at home for meals. Although I'm not very good, I find it fun to exchange presents along with the piano. The piece I play the most is "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Playing that piece is soothing for me. When I have free time at home, I often play with musical instruments. Recently, Hirai Dai-san gifted me a ukulele while he was a guest on my radio show. So now, I often play the ukulele while sitting on the sofa.”
Author Itaru Kinoshita of the manga about dinosaurs "Dinosaur Sanctuary" drew a super cute illustration to congratulate Mei on winning the Best Jeanist Award ! 🦖✨
He even said that if the manga gets a live-action adaptation, the main character Suzume in his mind would totally be Nagano Mei. 😍

ᯓ★ During her unforgettable trip, she made a friend with a taxi driver who showed her around museums, savored Italian cuisine in Venice, and even visited a famous 'Crash Landing on You' filming location in Switzerland, all while dreaming of experiencing the aurora and Christmas in Northern Europe.
⟡ Mei: "While I was in London, a taxi driver I became friends with spent the whole day showing me around museums and galleries. I love Italian food, so I had a great time in Venice as well. In Switzerland, I visited the place where the character played the piano in 'Crash Landing on You.' When I asked a local, 'I want to go here,' they responded, 'Oh, Netflix, right?!' and kindly took me there (laughs). It was a great trip where I felt connected to people. I haven't been to Northern Europe yet, but I’d love to see the aurora at least once in my lifetime and experience Christmas there."
ᯓ★ Excited for Halloween, she plans to dress up as Spider-Man this year!
⟡ Mei: "This year, I plan to dress up as Spider-Man for Halloween! Last year, I wore the red suit from ‘The Incredibles’ all by myself (laughs). I was supposed to gather with friends, but our schedules didn’t match. Still, I thought, 'It’d be a waste not to wear the costume I bought!'. I thought it would be fun to dress up every year and take pictures, so I’m doing it again this year. No matter how busy I get, I find happiness by taking time for myself like that."
