Indian Navy Gets 5th Anti-Submarine Warship 'AMINI' | GRSE Achieves 119 Warship Milestone 🇮🇳

India's indigenous warship-building programme has achieved another major milestone!

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has delivered 'Amini', the fifth of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC), to the Indian Navy on 5 November 2026.

Measuring approximately 77.6 metres, Amini is designed for coastal operations and equipped with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous anti-submarine rockets, sonar systems and an advanced Combat Management System.

With this delivery, GRSE has built its 119th warship and delivered its 81st warship to the Indian Navy.

Featuring approximately 88% indigenous content, Amini strengthens India's coastal surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities while supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

India's naval strength continues to grow with indigenous warship manufacturing!

A tragic accident in Ladakh has claimed the lives of two Indian Army personnel near Namika La Pass on the Kargil-Leh National Highway.

According to reports, a heavy-duty military vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a nearly 600-foot-deep gorge. Both personnel, serving as the driver and co-driver, lost their lives in the accident.

Rescue teams recovered their bodies, while police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

The Indian Air Force has an overall requirement of approximately 18–24 aerial refuelling tankers, making this proposed acquisition an important step towards strengthening its aerial refuelling fleet.

The bigger picture: This programme could improve the endurance of India's fighter aircraft, including Rafale and Su-30MKI, allowing them to undertake longer-duration missions with greater operational flexibility.

According to an IDRW report, DRDO is planning to incorporate a retractable in-flight refuelling probe into the 13-tonne Ghatak platform, potentially allowing it to remain airborne for significantly longer durations.

Here are some key details:
- Aircraft Weight: Approximately 13 tonnes.
- Internal Fuel Capacity: Reportedly around 3.7 tonnes.
- Engine: A dry Kaveri engine variant producing approximately 48.5 kN of thrust.

BREAKING: Centre Offers 2-Year Service Extension to Agniveers Under Revised Agnipath Scheme

In major development for Agniveers, the Centre has announced a revised arrangement offering an additional two-year service period to the 75% of Agniveers who were earlier expected to leave the Armed Forces after completing their initial four-year tenure.

Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani announced that after completing the extended two-year period, Agniveers willing to continue will get an opportunity for enrolment into the regular Armed Forces, subject to objective selection criteria.

The extended engagement will also come with higher remuneration.
