I started with Napoleon. Then I discovered a violin-playing Prussian officer who helped change military training.
While researching my videos, I came across Georg von Reisswitz, who developed his father’s work into the influential war game Kriegsspiel.
Those unexpected discoveries are one of my favourite parts of research. You begin with a familiar name—and find yourself wanting to know much more about someone else.
I wrote about this in tonight’s newsletter.

Working on a video is always a deep learning experience for me. Every time I study one of history’s extraordinary figures, I discover something that makes me reconsider how I learn, work and make decisions.
Delving into Napoleon’s learning system was no exception. It opened my eyes to how I could improve my own approach, but also to the danger of becoming less willing to change our minds once success tells us that we are right.
In this video, I share what I discovered. I hope you find it as enjoyable and useful to watch as I found it to create.

Making this video has been on my mind for some time. What I didn't know was how much I would be learning from it.
The creation of the Prussian War Academy, it's roots in Napoleon's victory over the Prussians at Jena is a fascinating story.
As I wanted to share with you as much as possible, the video ended up packed with great learnings and takeaways. 😉
Enjoy:-)

Hi everyone!
This one’s a little different from my usual videos about the routines of historical figures.
Genghis Khan didn’t leave behind a daily schedule to copy. Instead, I look at the stories that reveal how he led: how he paid attention, learned from people around him, recognized loyalty and talent, and brought very different people together.
I also spent time in Mongolia, where I saw how differently he can be remembered—and how being there changed the way I think about the man behind the empire.
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “Genghis Khan”?

Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr faced many of the struggles we all know: a lack of recognition for what she truly believed in, rejection, and being underestimated.
Not having a university degree did not stop her from becoming one of the most inventive minds of her time.
But she never gave up.
Her “insane routine” offers us not only valuable lessons, but real inspiration about persistence, ambition, and believing in your ideas—even when others don’t.
Don’t miss this episode.

A special shoutout—and thank you—to @hanasisay1657 for suggesting Thomas Young as a subject of this series! 🎉
❗️Could anyone learn almost everything today?
Thomas Young worked across languages, medicine, optics, physics, engineering—and even helped unlock the Rosetta Stone.
His real advantage was not just his genius and intelligence. It was the way he learned.
My new video explores the method behind “the last man who knew everything”:

Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote some of the greatest stories ever told.
But perhaps his greatest story was his own.
It is a story of extraordinary success and devastating failure. Of impossible deadlines, addiction, second chances, and ultimately learning to direct one's talents toward something that truly mattered.
More than anything, I think it's a story about the choices we make—and how those choices shape our lives.
I explore his remarkable routine and the lessons behind it in my latest video.
What do you think was the turning point in Dostoevsky's life?
